Contacting the IL Board of Nursing: Help Please

  1. 0 I am hoping someone can help me obtain contact information for the IL BON. I have many questions for the BON. I understand that nursing is regulated under the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation and I have spent countless hours navigating their website in circles. And I know that they have that little option of "email this profession", which is a feature I have not been able to utilize.

So if anyone has any concrete information on how to contact someone in the nursing aspect of the IL dept of Professional regulations, please respond. Phone numbers, addresses, email addresses would be great! Thank you.

Thanks for the effort, but the website is somewhat useless to me as I mentioned above. I asked for a Snail Mail Address and a telephone number. Also, if anyone has any first hand experience interfacing with someone from the BON, please share your experience with me.

Smart money would contact the Springfield office. My guess is you may never get a real person out of the Chicago office.

If you are looking to just email - it's my experience trying to interface that particular board in the past to help others on this site that THEY prefer more traditional forms of communication - phone or snail.

The reason you are having difficulty finding an EMAIL addy is that they don't want you to use that form of communication.

I actually contacted a real person last week regarding my APN IL license. The gentleman was very knowledgeable and polite. However, it did take a while to get a real person. Good luck.

I have been in contact w/ the Chicago office, as trying to get ahold of anyone in Springfield is hard. It may be Renewal Time for some people, so expect waits.

All I got for the Springfield office was a busy signal--all day long!

Try tomorrow morning first thing - I have recently talked to real people without problems.

Ditto! Been trying for over 2 weeks now.

    Very, VERY frustrating! :angryfire:angryfire

And thanks to busy signal, can't even leave a call back number! :trout:

My personal experiences with the Department of Professional Regulations in general have left me with a bad taste in my mouth. It is such a shame that the IL BON was absorbed into this behemoth. I've been to their Chicago branch in person and the people working there were really out of it (maybe I caught them on a bad day?)-- I could have gotten better information at a sunglasses hut kiosk in a mall.

I'm really surprised to hear that people are having a hard time getting a human on the phone at either office. I had to call them back in May regarding my license renewal and was able to get through pretty easily to both the Chicago and Springfield offices. I believe the Chicago number is the one to call to talk specifically to the board of nursing, while Springfield has more to do with actual paperwork type stuff.

Definitely don't call on Mondays as that is their busiest day of the week. Try calling at different times of the day on Tues-Fri and hopefully you'll get someone soon. Or if it's not a pressing matter, maybe sending a letter to BOTH addresses is a good idea because then you're not wasting your own time.

I was shocked when I went to renew my license on May 31st. YES I did it on the last day! I had some issues with the post office returning my original renewal and then I wasn't able to renew online because I was changing my name, too, so I had to drive down there at the last minute. I expected to wait in line for hours and for it to be a hassle. Instead, my friend and I got there at about 11am and found tons of street parking right outside the door - then it only took something like ELEVEN minutes from the time we left the car until the time we got back into it with my paperwork! I know this because we had 20 minutes left on the meter from the previous parker, and there was still time left when we drove off! They run a tight ship there.
