Hello All,

I am a bit in shock. Had gone to a case management meeting. Had a good meeting. Went out to see see my patients. Called back to get PT ordered for a patient and was told by our Assistant Director that they are going to be closing the office at the end of February!

I was a bit shocked by this news as I had worked for this company for about 2 years per diem and had just decided in October to go full time with them. I knew things were not going to last forever as they did not have steady management but I thought at least I would have a year.

I had a good situation at this agency (close to home, a good territory, loved my patients, good pay). I am a bit sad today as it was a good place to work for the most part. Great office staff.

Just needed to vent. Thanks.

:uhoh3: that stinks! i'm guessing it was a small agency? was it due to lack of patients? do you have other job opportunities in your area???

why couldn't they keep steady management.. sorry about all the questions!!! i'm just curious as to what makes an agency close..

I wish I could hear the agency I work for is closing. I've been trying to find a way to get out of this job for awhile.

Sorry the agency is closing. However try to look at the positive you have gained valuable skills to transfer to your next job and it may be even better. Good luck in your job search

I have always been told...Love ur Career not the Company that u work for because at the end of the day.. they look out for themsleves. I have worked for a particular hospital for several years for very low pay. when I decided that I needed a better paying job and put in my noticed, the DON THEN decides to increase my pay by $3.00 to just keep me on staff. I was hurt because all those years I've been with u for such a low wage and NOW u want to give me the $$$$ that I could have ALREADY been getting years ago. I've always had excellent annual reviews on my work performances, hardly ever stayed out and would always pick up extra shifts to help the floor out.

I was dedicated to the company but the company wasn't dedicated to me.

I am here laughing to myself when I think of a laid off nurse. I went to our city newspaper to look at some of the jobs as they had a mega job section last weekend and the first thing it said on it was "Jobs in healthcare provide job security." I thought that was rather funny.

As I look for another job, I wonder, how many more times will I have to do this before retirement? I really am not in the mood to find another job but here I am, back to the drawing board. I now have to start all over, AGAIN!

Just venting...Thanks for the moment.

I have heard of the small agencies closing like that ... sorry to hear that it affected you. use this time to find another position..maybe something that you have always wanted to do. Or, start looking at other agencies..find out where your agency will be referring new admits to. good luck!! Mary

I'm jobless too and will be relocating to help my situation. I have decided to try to get something more reliable than 100% home hlth. Too unreliable. I do not like having to sell my soul to four different agencies simultaneously to just eke out a living. You might have to relocate also, and if home hlth is your deal, try to get on good terms with a minimum of two agencies. Has your present mgmt given any hints as to where they are referring their soon to be abandoned clients? You should be able to follow your clients to whatever agency takes their case. Happens often around here.

Just an FYI. Got a great new position as the Home Care Coordinator with a long term care program for elders (a PACE (Medicaid) program-program for all inclusive care for elderly). I have only been doing orientation but I am very excited about this position and look forward to great things in this position. Thank you all for your support.
