Need a Moment to Vent!!

Hello All,

I am a bit in shock. Had gone to a case management meeting. Had a good meeting. Went out to see see my patients. Called back to get PT ordered for a patient and was told by our Assistant Director that they are going to be closing the office at the end of February!

I was a bit shocked by this news as I had worked for this company for about 2 years per diem and had just decided in October to go full time with them. I knew things were not going to last forever as they did not have steady management but I thought at least I would have a year.

I had a good situation at this agency (close to home, a good territory, loved my patients, good pay). I am a bit sad today as it was a good place to work for the most part. Great office staff.

Just needed to vent. Thanks.

Congratulations on your new position! Sounds like this is turning into a blessing after all (at least for you)! I can't help but wonder about the poor patients from the closed agency. I hope they found new homes too!

We found new homes for the patients that needed continued care. We made visits on all patients until this past Friday 2/24/07, if they needed it. We then transferred them over. We will tie up loose ends until 2/28/07 then that will be the end. Where one door closes, another door opens. Thanks for the support.

just an fyi. got a great new position as the home care coordinator with a long term care program for elders (a pace (medicaid) program-program for all inclusive care for elderly). i have only been doing orientation but i am very excited about this position and look forward to great things in this position. thank you all for your support.

welcome to my neck of the woods! i do long term hh. i like it as i have had most of my pt's now for years and really get to know them well. my pt's consider me "family" :nuke: although i know when to be the nagging nurse!

How do you like the actual position? Home health care provides such flexibility and this, while flexible, is within an 8 hour day. I know on my part, it will take some getting used to. Any tips?

get a routine set early. let them know to respect your time. elderly people are much better about that. i have a lot of younger, chronically ill pt's and they are harder to keep home for my visits sometimes!

[color=#483d8b]get your charting done each visit as you do the visit and don't let it pile up. get a system going. ask more experience hh nurses for their advice on paperwork systems/charting tips.
