got my BSN degree outside the US and army wont accept me


hello

i have spoken to a medical recruiter in the army and he said i cant join the army nurse because i got my degree from the philippines. i just dont understand why it is not accepted though i have my state license already and i am a legal resident.

Try another recruiter - they actually recently posted about how they were fast tracking applications for PRs.

i forgot to tell that the recruiter also told me that i can join the army but not in the field of nursing. i would be in the enlistment. probably ill contact another recruiter.

See another recruiter. There might be no openings for nurses right now, but the recruiter you saw may be off track too. Be sure to get specific info from each recruiter you see if they all reject you. Sometimes everyone is not on the same sheet of music. That line about trying to get you to go enlisted sounds like a familiar tactic: bait and switch. It happens often when people see military recruiters. You have to be firm on what you want.

yeah i know what you mean by that bait and switch. i really want to join either the army or navy because there is no way i can join the air force because i am only a legal resident and not a USC

Are you eligible for a security clearance being a legal resident not a US citizen? This could be the issue, not that you got your RN in the Phillipines. Need to find this out when you speak with another recruiter, go to goarmy.com and do the online chat if you do not want to talk directly with a recruiter about this.

Here is the requirements to join the US Army Nurse Corps. http://www.goarmy.com/amedd/nurse/co...ies_requir.jsp


To qualify for an Active Duty Regular Army appointment as an Officer in the Nurse Corps, you must meet all of the following conditions:

"Meet the prescribed medical and moral standards for appointment as a commissioned Officer
Be a United States citizen
Have a Bachelor degree in nursing (BSN) or Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) from a nursing school accredited in the United States
Have a valid, unrestricted RN license
Be 21-42 years of age (waivers may be granted to applicants)
Experienced health care professionals ages 43 to 60 years old may apply for the new two-year service obligation option. Learn More
Have a favorable security investigation completed."
