hello
i have spoken to a medical recruiter in the army and he said i cant join the army nurse because i got my degree from the philippines. i just dont understand why it is not accepted though i have my state license already and i am a legal resident.
Could the issue be that the foreign school is not accredited in the US ?
I agree with hopeful: Very possible that your education or school does not have United States accreditation.
Have you had your university or college transcripts translated into English by a reputable translation service? That way which ever government service you are thinking of applying to can at least start the process rolling by seeing if your degree "matches up" with a degree of the same type here in the States.
I am afraid to tell you guys but you SHOULD have nursing degree from accredited US nursing schools. Here is a tricky part. Nursing school should have both state and national accreditations. Some people think their school have both accreditations cause they were able to take NCLEX exam. However state nurisng boards do not check national accreditation. I have seen several people couldn't even apply since their school lack national accreditaiton. It has nothing to do with health care recruiters' capability to pull you in.
Don't give up. If you really want to join the military, you still can. Get your MSN from accredited US nursing schools. Then you are totally qualified.
