ANC Nov Board & M5 ID

Specialties Government

Published

I wanted to start a thread for all of the people who are waiting for the November ANC selection board, specifically if you have/waiting on the M5 identifier for Emergency Nursing. I thought we could suffer together and update each other while we wait. You are welcome to post if you have another specialty or none at all.

My status:

I have submitted all documents, and waiting on M5 identifier approval, physical approval and for the packet to make it past QA.

Specializes in Med/Surg;Hm Health;House Super; ER.

My recruiter called me early last night & told me I was selected -yippee. But that was the unofficial list, so that's why many others weren't on there. I guess the main list is still pending for some, from what others are saying here? He was surprised I popped up that early. 66H with an ER specialty course to follow, since I only had just under 2 years of ER. Now to see which OBLC course to get.

He said there were something like 463 or 436 packets nationally, when I asked for clarification, with the 50 available slots. I hope everyone else hears soon for your sanity sake ;).

Oh my gosh that is a LOT of applicants?!?! Is the the number FOR SURE?! My recruiter originally told me that there were 100 spots available but now I keep hearing there are only 50. Over 400 applicants in NUTS!

YEAHHHHHH!!!! I'M IN!!!! I'M IN!!!! I'm here at BOLC sitting in lectures counting down to graduation TOMORROW when my phone starts going off. I pull it out of my pocket and see that it's my recruiter...I got up so fast I about knocked everyone over in my path including all the chairs in my way too just to get out of there to answer it. He says my name in this somber voice and then starts laughing. He said he was going to try and play it off that it wasn't good news, but decided against it seeing that I was getting ready to graduate tomorrow and he knows that I've been on pins and needles since the board convened!!! That was a good choice on his part!!! I started jumping up and down in the middle of the AMEDD quad with people looking at me like I was crazy!!! What an awesome day...woke up this am for an 0430 APFT that I passed. Had graduation rehearsal. AAAANNNNDDDDD got accepted as a 66HM5!!!!

CONGRATS to everyone that has been accepted!!! I can't wait to serve with you!!! And to all that are still waiting, be patient, you're next!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! We made it through this LONG process!!!

I heard original number of packets was in the 300s, with something around 56 slots. I don't envy that selection board! That must have been tough. Congrats, Care&Joy! I figured you had been selected by some of the recent posts you'd made. Awesome!!!

I know, it's confusing. Weeks ago I thought he said there were 250 applicants all together & that 46 or 43 of them wanted ER slots (with 50 available)....but after talking to him again he said 463 or 436 applicants all over the nation for sure. So maybe out of that the 250 wanted the 50 ER slots? ACK. I don't know, lol.

Thanks, Elumine! Any word yet? Congrats to LUNAH, New1LT, AND AND....I can't remember the other until I read posts again, ha.

It's like one second I'm thinking "AWESOME!" & then I catch a few seconds of, "WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING?!?!?", lol.

Are you all going to try for the January OBLC if course openings are available? Or are you going to try for a later date? I'm not sure yet as there is SO much to do first & I have to worry about where I'm putting my dogie & getting all the supplies & uniforms & paperwork...not to mention I'm house-sitting for parents at the moment ;).....sooooo much to do.

Specializes in Emergency Room/1LT Army 66HM5.
Congrats NEW1LT ON EVERYTHING!!!! So much good news in a short period of time!!! How exciting!!!:yeah:

Thanks MBARN08!!! Yes, yesterday's news put the icing on the cake for the end of my BOLC experience!!!! I'm officially graduated with certificates in hand!!! Having dinner with some great people tonight and then flying home tomorrow!!! Good luck to all of you no matter the outcome of this board. I wish nothing but continued success wherever your path may lead you. I truly hope to meet all of you someday in uniform!!! Everyone keep on track here and let us all know what is going on and when your BOLC is so that we can cheer you on!!!

I just wanted to say I've been on these boards for a while... I'm excited to say I was selected at this board and will be a 66H. Truly excited. Congrats to my future peers and to those not-selected keep hope alive, keep working to achieve that goal.

freefall,

Have your Recruiter check his Inbox for an email from Ms Beecher on 12/1/2010 time stamp 9:06am. That will answer his questions. He may have overlooked that email or he might have his outlook set up to deliver emails to the senders folder and didnt notice it.

What is your first name and initial of your last name.

New1LT,

You have me intrigued. How did you get to OBLC without being selected???

SFC Jimenez:

At one time not long ago, the ANC was accepting overage applicants as old as fifty (this was perhaps 3 years ago), due to an on-going shortage of RNs. Do you know if this is still the case? I am 49, NPS, and want to know if this is still an option for me. I am a med-surg RN/BSN. I'd consider either active or reserve.
