Yes, it's Georgia Perimeter. Milesamelia, they let you take Micro & A&P2 at the same time? I always thought A&P2 was a pre-req for Micro at GPC. (At least that's what it says in the course listing in registration)

Meeep, I'm taking it at lanier tech...I'm not sure how GPC is but most schools require either A&P or principles of biology which I took when I got my previous degree. Are you applying for this fall?

No, since they require A&P2 before I can start Micro, I won't finish in time for fall. I'm going to be applying to strictly BSN programs anyway.

I took A/P 1 in the first half semester and A/P 2 in the second half semester. Then I took micro after that. It was brutal, but it helped me get done a semester early.

I have an overall gpa of 2.25, my program gpa is a 3.15...i got a D in my human anatomy lecture but re-took it with an A. I have yet to take the teas. However the requirements at GPC are....min. 2.0 overall gpa, 2.7 in program gpa, 2.7 in biology. Previously i was studying in business administrations so i have around 5 W'S and have failed only one class. What are my chances of getting accepted? Has anyone gotten accepted with similar scores/ similar circumstances?

Seevay, I'm not sure what the typical stats are but I have heard if you have to take the teas more than once it really hurts your chances of getting in...I highly recommend the ati study manual! Are you applying for this fall?

Hey i don't know of anyone with similar stats but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. I do know, from attending the nursing info session, that any courses retaken get averaged. Not replaced. Retakes are taken into consideration. I know that my friend was accepted with a 3.4 GPA. I do think your best bet is to attend an info session which they offer often and you would then have a chance to speak directly with the director of the program. From what I can tell she is very honest and straightforward so she will definitely let you know your chances. Good luck!

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. Wow! That is a great TEAS score. Congrats. What I learned at the information session was that for Fall 2013 they will be looking for:

Science and General Ed GPA 3.0 or higher (last year it was 2.9)

TEAS score of 65 but may raise it for 2013 (65 was for last year)

Last year they took in 160 students....for Fall 2013, it may be between 100-120 (They haven't decided yet).

Also, you can not be an inactive student for 12 months. If so, you have to reapply to the school. (I didn't know this, but thankfully I don't fall into that catagory, yet)

And lastly, if you have anything fishy in your past, be sure to get it cleared up as they will be doing a background check and drug screening.

I hope this helps. I too will go the BSN accelerated route if not accepted after this round. It will be more expensive, but I am too old to keep waiting.

Thanks for the info stationhome! I have my application all ready to submit I am just waiting on grades to be posted at the school I am at now so they can mail my transcript. I know they didn't ask us to do this but I printed off the plan of study and either filled in where/when I took the class and what my grade was or when I was planning on taking something so they know...I have multiple classes they could use for some of the requirements (math, humanities) and I wanted to make sure they use the best grade! If they use the classes I've done the best in my general ed gpa is a 3.0 so I'm a little stressed...hopefully I will get in though because I too am a "mature" student and I don't want to have to wait another year to start school! Good luck and keep me posted:) And I may have already told you this but I definitely recommend the study guide for the TEAS...the only thing is the practice tests that come in it are much easier than the actual test...I skipped studying for math because I got a 100 on both practice tests and there was a lot of material I didn't remember...just a heads up! And really study the science section it is the longest one on the test! Good luck!

@Kiki69. My advisor told me it would be easier to finish at GPC than I can take classes that go towards my Bachelors degree. What classes do you have to take that go toward your bachelors degree?would it be easier to do everything one shoot. As in finish the pre-req classes transfer to another college to jump right into your nursing classes?

Jonesel9 I'm doing as many prereqs as I can at GPC before transferring over to my bachelors degree. It's way cheaper this route!!

I agree. I am not planning on applying to GPC's nursing program, but I have been taking all of my core and pre-req's there. Can't beat their prices, even if the admissions/advisement/financial aid leave much to be desired at times.
