Who's applied to GPC for the fall?
@meep and nurse2b7337 I agree as well. I have spring and summer of 2013 at gpc then I am done with the pre-req's :). Are either are you going to apply to Gpc nursing program and transfer to finish your bachelor's classes? Are the bachelor's classes the same as the pre-req's classes?I am trying to see which route I want to do but I keep hearing it's best to do the nursing classes at Gpc then transfer to finish your upper level bachelor's classes. If I transfer to Georiga State and go straight into my nursing classes would it be a lot easier?I know you both said it would be cheaper to finish your nursing classses at Gpc.However is the process still the same for both? Thanks for your feedback.

I am not planning on applying to GPC. After dealing with administration, I cannot wait to get out of there honestly. I have most of my core for a BSN already completed, so I do not plan on wasting time going ADN then bridge to BSN. I will only be applying to BSN programs for these reasons.
As far as your questions go, easier is a relative term. GPC's nursing program is by no means easy. I've spoken to a few on campus, and they all talk about how brutal it is. I think nursing school is going to be tough no matter what program you attend.
I do know it will likely take you longer to do your ADN at GPC and then transfer to get the BSN. It is cheaper yes. When it comes to pre-reqs, it's awesome. But as far as actual nursing programs go, there are a lot of factors to take into consideration. Whether the program is the cheapest may not be what matters most to you.
Everyone is different though, you have to do what is right for you. Personally, I am going to value my time over money. Plus, it feels senseless to me to spend 4 years in school for an associates degree, which is what it would be if I went that route. Rather just go the BSN route in 5. Do what is right for you though!
Hello ladies!! I am applying to GPC bcuz my Teas score isn't high enough for the other BSN programs in the area. Sux too!! Anyway, I have taken a huge bit of my classes for a bachelors degree at GPC. It is a cheaper route if you can do it. I am an older student not quite 40 and I have children in highschool. Sooooo I'm going this ADN route to save money. I have a friend who is currently in the program and she just finished her first semester. Like another poster said its difficult bcuz it's a nursing program like any other but she learned a lot. I'm just going to see what happens. If this doesn't work out I'll move onto a private institution.

@meep Thank you so much I totally am on the same page. I said that to myself that it does not make sense for me to do that. I rather go straight into the nursing program and come out with what I planned on going in there for.I understand and thank you for the clarification.I too am sick of that school lol. I thought about the samething as far as it would take longer to do ADN then transfer to get the BSN. I do care about how cheap it is but however I rather value my time and knowledge over money. I want to come out feeling like I have not wasted my time. Thanks again,I have made my decision.
I am going the ADN route because of time...if you go the summer semester at GPC you can finish in approximately 16 months. I already have a bachelor's degree so the only BSN prereqs I needed were A&P 1&2 and Micro which I will finish next semester. I could do an Accelerated BSN and finish in 16 months but I was told to allow 80+ hours per week for that program. Spending time with my husband and daughter is too important to me to devote that much time to nursing so the ADN program is better for me. I will only have to take the nursing classes to get my BSN and I can do those through NGCSU online in 1 year. I think it just depends on your situation...what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for you! Good luck everyone whichever path you are taking:)

I too am a "mature" student. I am 48, so I don't have time to waste either!
I have already taken the TEAS. Thankfully it is higher than their minimum requirement. Here is good luck for us both to get in!
