Who else has had great instructors?

We often see threads about instructors who are cruel, unreasonable, and catty. This will be one about instructors who want students to succeed and show it. I'm entering my final semester of RN school next semester and have had nothing but great experiences with all of my instructors, including my clinical instructors. This includes my rotation through OB/L&D as a male student. Is there anyone else who shares my experience?

I had really great instructors. A few that weren't as much, but they were definitely well-intentioned, intelligent, and cared about us. Just not so good at teaching. The others were all fantastic. One is retiring this year (she's the assistant director of the program, and lectured 2 classes and ran our preceptorships), and she will be a HUGE loss to the department. The department chair... Another story.

I had nothing but good experiences as well. Not easy, sometimes frustrating, but always good. Others in my class mirror some of the negative experiences talked about on this forum. So why did I have such a good experiences and others having the same instructors had so horrible of a time? They said that it was because I was a guy but there were guys on the other side. There were three guys that did not pass and two of us that did. The two that didn't pass thought that the instructors were unfair, unprofessional, and just down right mean. So it couldn't be because I was a guy.

Maybe because I was always prepared for class and clinicals. I always had a thought or answer even if it wasn't the correct answer. I was in charge of my education and was willing to learn. I commanded respect due to my professionalism and asked for help when needed. The instructors that were the hardest on me are now some of my best friends and mentors. Yes it was hard, but I passed the NCLEX the first time and I am grateful for that.

So yes, I had great instructors, they taught me how to be a nurse.

Me too. All of my instructors were fair, caring and enjoyed teaching.

Of the Nursing Professors and Clinical Instructors, I have had only one that probably shouldn't be teaching. She's very knowledgeable as an RN and if I were in need of the unit she works on, I'd be 100% glad to have her as my RN. She just doesn't know how to teach well. The others have been tough, demanding, fair, hands-on or hands-off as needed, and generally very much invested in getting their students to succeed. On the whole, I had a very good experience through nursing school.

I have great instructors! Love all of them. No complaints at all.

My instructors have been fantastic from the start. I may not have always liked them in the moment but I couldn't have asked for anything better.

And one in particular was very quick at making sure I didn't drop on the floor after my adrenaline left from my very first code.

Our 1st semester clinical group had a rough time with our CI. She was definitely Dr. Jeckyl/Mr. Hyde personality-wise. We never knew what mood she'd be in.

After going through that, I've had nothing but wonderful clinical instructors :) I've learned so much from them and they've made my experience worth every minute of it. I'm currently in my psych rotation and I've had a great experience on a lock-down unit. Our CI has taught us so much! When I went in to the semester, I wasn't thrilled about being at that particular location, because many of the patients there are dangerous. Having worked with them, I've really come to change my pre-conceived ideas about what schizophrenics are like. She takes the time to review NCLEX questions with us in every post-conference so we're prepared to for the mental health questions on it. She's supportive & encouraging and it's just a pleasure to go to clinicals.

I'll start my final semester in January and I'm hoping the trend will continue.

I have had some of the best ?

Thinking back about it, be nice to them they have a thousand things on their plates

All of my instructors were wonderful except one. I even work with 1 of my former instructors and have given and taken report from .

All of my instructors have been good, and my clinical instructors have been particularly amazing. I have learned so much from each of them because they have all had very high expectations for me and pushed me to meet them, while being truly supportive and helpful. I will be a great nurse in time, and it is because of them.

I will revisit this post in 2 years. As of now, my experience at a previous school was 2 out of 6 instructors were good.
