Not bashing girls at all but as the minority male in the faculty i see alot of things concerning women and their interaction with each other. Geez girls like to bicker and talk about other girls. In the clinical setting the girls wont partner up with certain ppl and when they partner up with someone of their choice they want it fair and even. Myself and other males seem to get along with them just fine, we just want the job done but when it comes to girls working with girls the chemistry doesnt seem to really work. Maybe its just my faculty but why is it so hard for girls to work with other girls?

Be Careful, Girl Forensic Nurse Specialists are allowed to carry guns if they qualify...........Lemme see, am I PMS ing, or am I just having a bad day?

Laughing at your name here, "nurse gigolo 69" . I surely cannot take anything you say seriously with a name like that.

It's true. I plead guilty.

Ya know something funny. I always watch theses shows on Discovery like Monster House and Monster Garage where a bunch of men get together to work on a project and they have a deadline.....well, after about day 2 someone is always fighting, b!%@#ing, storming off or talking crap about another worker. I've also talked to other men about things like this and they say men do the same thing as women.

IMO I think nursing is an emotional job, you have lives on the line, pts die, there's a chance you could screw up and hurt someone one. You're under a ton of stress. This is not a job where you sit in a cublice and work alone or on some projects, it's much more stressful. So, women deal with stress a little different than men, they verbalizes. Neither one is it better or worse.

Guys complain, talk crap, don't help out and all do all the things women do. Men don't work better than women and women don't work better than men.

I was in the same train of thought on the way home from clinical this afternoon ... why do the women seem to side off against each other? There's a lot of cat fighting and attitudes in our hospital too, and I think it's totally unnecessary and getting quite old. We are all supposed to be professionals in a hospital setting and I don't think I've heard so much bickering since I was changing in the girls locker room after gym in high school. It really gets in the way of why everyone is supposedly there - to help the patients and practice nursing! Yesterday I actually had to move to a different area two times to find a place where I could formulate my care plan for the evening. It's very frustrating!

Gigolo, I would think that the reason you observe this behavior in "just the women" in your group is because you are the male minority. Maybe it's just not your personality to behave in that way. I know plenty of people (men and women) that choose to keep to themselves and plenty that love drama. If there were equal numbers of men and women, do you think that conflict related to gender would even be an issue? Just something to chew on...

Nurse_gigilo69,

At the risk of being flamed. I AGREE!! My husband works in a production bakery that is 85% Female. ALL they do is fight! My husband was Chief Union Steward for about a yr. I wrote up the Grievences for him. 99.99% were from women who didn't like what another woman did at work. NOTHING union related!!

I finally told my husband that I would much rather be friends with men, than women, because, when you get in an arguement with a guy, and apologize. The guy forgets it. If you get in an arguement with a woman, there is now getting over it. Women carry grudges FOREVER!!

I don't know why we are like this, but I really think it is sad. If women would join forces, instead of fighting each other, the NURSING standard in this country who be on par with Doctors!! Don't take my word for it, look at Proibition. It was WOMEN who got ETHO outlawed.

Question is HOW do we retrain women to support each other instead of stabbing each other in the back?

Ok, a serious comment from the Forensic Nurse Specialist who spends most of her time doing cases with men. There isn't a mirror that is missed by a male investigator walking down a hall. If one detective starts wearing dockers with pleats and cuffs, one week later the entire squad has pleats and cuffed pants. Next came the monograms on the cuffs on the long shirt sleeves. Then someone found a discount dry cleaners who give police discounts. And who is boffing who in the police department isn't spread by the female investigators. And the goodie, females do not talk about who had breast augmentation in the Criminal Investigation Division followed by wooo hoos.

Men are worse at work than women. I am considered "one of the guys" so I have to listen to this crap. (They also remember I am armed when I visit crime scenes, because bad guys always return to the scene of the crime)

BarbPick - as someone who has spent some time with cops - all I can say (between giggles) is SO TRUE, SO TRUE.

OK, seriously - here's my two cents... Men can be every bit as catty and gossipy and competitive as women. However, I do think that in general, men are better at putting that stuff (called human nature, I believe) on hold when there's a job to be done. We women have a tougher time "letting it go." And that, unfortunately, is the difference. We need to get better at this - professional image suffers when you have steam coming out of your ears.

JMHO.

The reason why i don't get along with the majority of the females in my class is that i have better things to discuss besides who's ****ing who, makeup, boys, the car Daddy bought for Christmas, the 600 bucks i blew on clothes in one day from Express, etc. Not an exaggeration. I am 2 months from turning 27, and some 20 year old was SHOCKED that my dad doesn't pay my rent and utilities while i'm in school.

I get along with 4 people in my class completely. We all work full times jobs, and have more intelligent things to talk about besides how much liquor we comsumed over the weekend. Strangly enough we're also the 4 that have the highest grades in class.

This is a different topic entirely. You are an adult learner going to LPN school by choice.

My situation was much different than yours, when I went to school. (I don't know why I mention guns so much in my posts lately) I felt like I was forced by my Dad at gunpoint to Go to college and become a Nurse or else, I have no idea what or else was, as I listened and complied.

When I was your age, actually 26, I was incharge of a 22 Bed ICU with 24 hour call responsibility. Point here, the 20 year olds in your class will become 2 months shy of 27 and will have different values then they do today. Maybe they will be in RN transition. You mention having the best grades in the class, you and your 4 friends, well what do they call the guy who graduates last in the Medical School class? DOCTOR
