Iknow this isn't a very exciting topic, but I just started a CNA course and I still need to buy some white shoes for clinical. Does anyone have any recommendations? I plan to go on to nursing school next spring so I'd like to invest in a pair of shoes that'll last more than a month or two. I've seen some really expensive shoes and wonder if they are worth it. What about Rockers? They don't seem to be too expensive, yet seem supportive. I already work on my feet all day and they still hurt when I get up in the morning. Should I just buy some athletic shoes?
Thanks,
Laura

I think Nursemates are better than Rockers. I look for something with a little height a the heel so that I do not put too much pressure on the arch of my foot. I also alternate shoes from day to day. It is also good to stretch your feet to loosen them up during the day or after work. Best remedy for sore feet-a yummy foot rub.

I love my Danskos. Once you know your European size, look on eBay for them, they're much cheaper there than anywhere else - although try http://www.danskooutlet.com - they have really cheap "seconds" which I was quite happy with.
I didn't like the Rockers, I felt like my ankle wanted to roll side to side. Skechers (http://www.skechers.com) makes a white slipon that is really comfy too, it's called "Vitals".
Good luck!

Honey, this IS an exciting topic! And more important than you realize. Do you know how bad your puppies will bark if you have crappy shoes carrying them through an 8 or 12 hour shift? I LOVE Danskos! And fyi they come in many cool colors. And they make me taller! heehee!!!!!

I would suggest a good pair of tennis shoes. I wear those and alternate with a pair of clogs.
Good Luck... a good pair of shoes is a necessity!

Hopefully, I'll be 1st semester nursing student in September. I was also wondering about what are the best shoes to wear. My mother is an CNA and she also made the suggestion to switch your shoes. She told me to buy at least 2 pair. I've heard good things about Nurse Mates and Dansko's....hey maybe I'll buy one of each.

I just paid $70 for a pair of Rockers and at the end of my 12 hour clinical I thought I was going to die. I don't think my feet have hurt that bad in a long time. So I'm back to my Kswiss now...But I know several people who love Rockers.
I have a friend who swears by Nursemates Clogs
Good Luck with your class!!

Athletic shoes have always worked best for me, but I have found nursemates to be pretty good too. But the athletic shoes were cheaper and felt better, and for me were easier to move fast in. But that may be just because I am used to wearing them anyway for sports, I don't know. Good luck!!! :)

Danskos! They are well worth the price.
I also wear Reebok (walk dmx style) and I have found them quite comfortable.

I bought a pair of Rockers (by Cherokee) for about 60 bucks and they are like wearing slippers. I love them.
