How far are your clinicals?

OK...Our school is located in the "capital" of this state, has it's own hospital but, our clinicals are 45 miles away. On the other hand, the University that is located in the same area as our clinicals do their clinicals here:eek: How much sense does that make?

How far are your clinicals and why?

Our hospital is an hour drive, and we do have to visit the night before. Thakfully, I am right there anyway for class the day before clinical, so I will just bop on over. Getting up at 5am the next morning to drive in will be rough, but do-able! :)

The schools have contracts set up with the hospitals...that's probably why you have to drive so far. For part of my clinicals, I have to drive about 25 min away, for the rest including future semesters...the hospitals are 40 to 60 minutes away.

Since our nursing school is the only one in the area , there are 3 different hospitals that we particiapte with. We are allowed to pick which one we will do our clinicals in. Each one is about 30min to an hour from the school, in different directions. Its nice, because we pick the hospital that is close to our house, so the drive aint so bad. Mine is only 10 min from my house. Counting red light time!!

We have several different hospitals that range from 30 minutes to an hour away from where most of us live. It's not that bad but what's tough is the night before visit to pick up your assignment, etc...

i've lucked out so far and been within 20 min of all the facilities that we've had rotations. but alas, all good things must end. my next and last quarter will have a clinical rotation that is an hour and 15 min away. not looking forward to that.

All of my clinicals are in the metro Philly area. My last clinical was 5 min. away but this quarter I am driving 45min. to an hour. We also have to do the night before visit.

I have driven anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour......our small community college has many small community hospital clinical sites as well as larger metro area clinical sites.........I think it all depends on the instructors/administrators/clinical site availability.

Right now, my medsurg clinicals are only 20-30 minutes away, but some of my classmates have driven an hour and a half each way. We have to go the night before, too, so that was pretty rough on some of us. We also have limited clinical sites, and we are not allowed to have clinicals at the same place twice, so that really limits the options that our instructors have to give us.

My clinicals are five minutes away

yes, we have to go to our clinical site the night before to get patient assignment.

We have to do the night before visit too, and my clinical is an hour away. I am one of those "living in the boonies" people that Heather described...:)

...We've done clinical at 4 different hospitals, one of which was local to the school. Two were an hours drive east and another an hours drive south. When I began I was an an hour and fifteen minutes away from the school and the clinicals were about 100 miles door to door. I moved to the school locale and have saved a ton of time for studying and the like. I feel fortunate to have been able to do rotations at differing facilities!!
