I'm a dual major in bsn and psychology.

I had to repeat pharmacology. I had a c and retook it the next semester to get a b. I got accepted into 2 bsn programs. 1 accel and 1 traditional. My gpa is very average. I got b's in most science courses. I have 2 c's in my prereqs. 1 in the mentioned pharm. Class and the other in micro economic honors. My overall gpa is 3.46 :-(. I got in though. Don't give up. Gl to you

Yes, but a looooong time ago and it no longer counts. My admissions counselor said it won't effect my GPA at all. My school also replaces the bad grade with the better grade if you do well the second time around anyway.

No, I have never had that experience. However, at my school if you retake a course, the only grade that shows up is the most recent grade. Of course, your full transcript will reflect both grades, but my school only cares that you redid the course, passed, and improved yourself. I can't speak to the chances of getting in a nursing program if you've failed a course, but I will give you my take on the situation. When you say "years ago" I get the feeling that this course was taken like five or ten years ago, and you (or someone) failed it. Then, very recently, you (or whomever you are referring to) retook the course, and made an A. Personally, I think that when nursing admission faculty look at that transcript they are going to be more impressed by the recent A than by the old failing grade. This may not be correct, so don't take my word, but that's my personal take on it.

Recently I was involved with the admissions process in a program that was more interested in the courses I took 35 or 40 years ago than in the most recent go around, when the most recent go around was done because most schools will not accept science courses more than five years old. So, there is something to be said for not looking for common sense in trying to figure out policies beforehand.

[color=#2f4f4f]i did not experience having to take any science pre-reqs over. i was struggling to keep my had above water in a&pi, but i knew what i needed to do to keep safe. at my school, financial aid only covers classes you made a c or below in. if you decide to retake a class that you have a b or higher in, you must fund it yourself. our school also counts only the last two grades per pre-req into the gpa, but most have limits as to only being allowed to score the grade needed within the first two attempts.

i took a&p in spr '10' and fall '10' and failed with an F( study habits were horrible). i plan on going back to school after my 1st bachelors. what im asking is has anyone failed a pre req twice and after some years took it for a third time and passed and got into nursing program.

Nope, but you may want to reevaluate why you want to be a nurse if you are struggling in the prerequisites. Also, are you saying you took it in 2010? That wasn't that long ago, and science courses don't expire until after the five year mark in some schools.

I've received a 'W' in Microbiology d/t a registration confusion. At first, I was concerned about it being on my transcript. I was able to retake the course and I passed with a 'B' (I think that was in 2010). This past fall semester, I was accepted into the nursing program. I will begin Med Surg I and OB this week. Please don't get discouraged, especially if this is what you want. Back then, I thought all of the odds were against me and I started to consider other majors (and quitting school smh). As soon as I let my crazy, anxious mind take control of me, I received two acceptance letters from two different programs. I had to change my study habits, too. It's ok to fall because you have to/will get back up. Don't let anyone tell you that you should give up. My nursing uniform was too big for me and I took it to a local tailor and guess what he told me..."Maybe you should choose another profession". I looked at him like he had a behind for a face, smiled, and then said, "Thank you". Sorry for the long post but if nursing school is your goal, then do what you can to accomplish that goal. Take advantage of any resources you feel will benefit you. Good luck!
