Had a fellow student over yesterday and we were studying when she suddenly exclaimed that I have way too many nursing books. I thought everyone has extra books aside from the assigned ones? Besides the required texts, I have a couple nursing diagnoses books, 6 of the Nursing Made Incredibly Easy books, a dictionary, a lab book, some drug cards and skills cards, and some NCLEX books...what do you have sitting on your shelves?

I have extra books too! 2 medical dictionaries, lippencott manual of nursing (fabulous book), nursing diagnosis cards, care plan book, medication books... nothing compared to some of my classmates though. The extra books are extremely helpful, sometimes to understand something fully you need to read different views of the same thing!

Funny you should ask, as I just bought $125 worth yesterday!
I got the RN notes, med surg notes, Mosbys pocket dictionary, and NCLEX RN review book. I also have an extra lab book and 3 magazine subscriptions.

I think having extra books/resources is never a bad thing.

I have a lot of nursing books. Actually, I think they get me confused sometimes trying to read what each books have to say about a particular thing. So I just target mainly the textbook for exams and the other books for the nursing street language.
P.S. It is almost like I am addicted to buy books. They first shelf I go to at B&N and Borders is the nursing section to see what is new. :)

I, too, have several Incredibly Easy books, the Incredibly Easy magazines, two NCLEX study guides, and a couple of other things that were either recommended here or by friends or out of necessity (care plan books, etc.).
Sorry, but I don't think that's "too many"...while the internet is a great resource, I don't have a PC upstairs where I study and I need to lay my hands on some fairly reliable info quickly when I'm studying!! It's also nice to have something handy to take with me if the mood strikes!!
LOL. My name is S2BDOC and I am a book junkie. I have tried to quick but it keeps drawing me in . lol

Add me to the list of students who have way too many books! I like books, and I have quite the library now. And I really do use them; if something confuses me, I'll look it up in another book just to read about it in a different "voice". That helps me often.
It's nice to know I'm not alone! But I don't think you can have "too many..."
