Gee me and care plans just do not get along!!!!!!!
We had to do at least 5 care plans for one patient so that's what they got from me the least 5, and pretty much just got a pass on the ........ things but there's still more to come in the next semester lucky me.

I have COPD too, and went into respiratory arrest twice this year, and had to be intubated. The first time I had pneumonia, and the second time, just three months later, I had pneumonia with septicemia. I sure would like for you to be around when it's time for me to die.
I refuse to go to a nursing home, and am receiving daily care at home.

    Connie,
my message is for you. You sound like a very caring person, and are a true credit to what nursing is all about.

Please, please, share...........I don't start actual nursing classes until Sept. 2003........Just working on prereqs now.............but I would LOVE to be a lil ahead with book purchases, and this one sounds like it's more than worth it.

There are several care plan books out there... but you might want to wait to buy one until you start classes. If NANDA comes up with new dx you would want the most up-to-date version.

In doing our first Care Spam we were allowed to "cheat". We were allowed to make up a fictional patient and take our material from anywhere we liked.

I took mine directly from the nursing care plan textbook we were assigned so I would learn the correct way to outline a care plan.

It was rejected by my instuctor for what she called an "inadeaquate primary nursing diagnosis" and said the evaluation of the nusing actions didn't fit for one action.

She never knew that it came from the text, but it just goes to show what a load it is. I'll bet she never even saw one after first semester. Seriously, patients in an acute care facillity are shipped out like day-old doughnuts!! It's rather obviouse that it only serves to develop appropriate nursing actions......so why not just spend time developing that important skill?

But hey, that 9 credits of required psychology will really come in handy too I will now know when something's bugging you,and as your nurse I will be capable of writting copious notes on splendid nursing interventions, rationale, and evaluation of those actions.............or I could just take care of it.

Yup,I'll be sure to pass that along if I get time to jot it down if I even get time to use the bathroom as I scarf a sandwich sideways down my inflammed esophagus.

    Yup,that'll sure be great

    Hey, All!
I am new to this, so, please be gentle with me! :kiss
I am starting my 1st care plan on Oct. 24th.
We will be going to our 2nd clinical site-another nursing home.
The paperwork we got in class is about 30 pages long...
Keep your fingers crossed I get this right! We have 2 instructors...a "white" nurse & a "scrub" nurse. We even get to have a capping ceremony Dec. 19th... did anybody know they still have capping ceremonies?!? :imbar
    Wish me luck!
