If you wake up late for work and just throw scrubs on and run out the door. You forget about doing your hair and makeup. No one important will see you anyways, ans sleep is more important than looking good.

I know every 24 hour place in my town

The few times I have worked dayshift, I tried to encourage my patient to sleep forgetting it was only 11am
Maybe they SHOULD sleep since they probably stayed up all night anyway... Hahaha

When you don't drive to work but have to catch a bus, you tell the bus driver where you need to get off and ask if they can wake you up because there's a 100% chance as soon as you sit down you'll fall asleep.

You try to pay for your bus trip using your hospital swipe card instead of a metro card ( bus ticket)

Also... getting a huge cart of groceries in the empty grocery store at 8AM.

Telling everyone you worked with "good night!" at 7:30 AM.

Giving report and finishing with mumbled, "have a good night. I mean, day".

Making Dunkin Donuts stops at 11pm.

Wrenching open the door for a UPS delivery at 2PM, with wild hair, crazy eyes, and pajamas.

Picking up a day shift and being overwhelmed with lights, sounds, people, and management!

Glaring at other drivers, gritting teeth, and trying to win at all stop lights on the way home. I am a NIGHT SHIFT nurse just getting out of work, buddy, NO ONE wants to get where they're going faster than I do!

Also... having total giggle fits at 2AM, laughing til we cry!

All the patients who, when I ask, "how did you sleep?" and they say, "great! how about you? Where do you guys get to sleep?"

When you wake up on your night off at 3 or 4 am because you're ready to eat some lunch.

When day shift starts arriving at 0645 and turn on the lights, and you think "wahoo! quittin' time!"

When you wonder if your neighbors are judging you for taking your dogs out at 5 in the evening and you are wearing pajamas.

When you call a friend/family member at 0700 as part of your 'early morning safety call system" (also revenge for when my dad was night shift and used to call me at 0700 on his way home)

While fast asleep you hear your fiance come home from work and you ask him if he would cosign your insulin.

Bwaaaaah! I almost spit my soda out reading this!

My sister woke me up one afternoon because she had a fever and wanted some Tylenol. When I went to give it to her I grabbed her wrist looking for her pt ID band.
