For those of us who have graduated or are graduating (I'm graduating in a little over 12 HOURS! WOOOHOO!), I'm extremely curious as to what your favorite/most memorable gift you received. Aside from money of course, that's always memorable! LOL!

Also, for those who have given gifts for graduation, what seemed to be the most appreciated item you've given? (again, aside from $$$)

Like I said, I'm graduating tomorrow, and I'd really be curious to the answers to these questions.

Hmmm....I guess the "best" gift was a homemade gift certificate for the cardiac steth of my choice from my in-laws :) They knew what it would cost, but didn't want to choose for me, so they had me pick it out, order it and send them the bill :D

A friend gave me a watch with clearly marked digits and second hand, very thoughtful. I also received a bagful of cutesy items, like keychains and car antennae thingies with a nurse theme.

Congratulations!

I got a GPS system (TomTom) from my husband so I could always find my way home after a hard day at work (this was a combined gift with Christmas and our 10 year anniversary). From my son I got a watch with every feature an RN would ever need (including being waterproof). For myself I got a cross necklace.

I was 48 years old when I graduated, the best gift for me was that my father, who is 79, on portable 02, was able to travel five hours to see the first of 5 children of his graduate college.

:lol2:

A cruise to the Bahamas from my gf at the time. We had an awesome time.

hmm well I haven't graduated - but I WOULD LOVE a PDA. and some nursing reference software A gift certificate to a uniform shop would be great too. The most up to date drug guide would be great. Also not very nurse related but I"d love an MP3 player for downtime.

If I had a friend starting nursing school (or college for that matter) I'd buy them a nice digital voice recorder. Something I NEED but keep putting off because I'm always so broke.

I am so with you on that- I just finished my first semester of my 4yr BSN program and my recorder is worth every cent-- it's been SO wonderful for A&P I can't even tell you! I haven't yet taken the time to figure it all out, but it even has the capability to do voice-to-print... I thought that was pretty nifty. It wasn't cheap but something I will use a LOT... and an easy way to make friends, ha!

I obviously haven't graduated nursing school but I got a Littman stethoscope for my high school graduation that I can't wait to use!

Congrats on your graduation!
