Nurses General Nursing

Weird commercial.

I am a registered murse and my job is to distribute slim jims to patients suffering from spice loss. Weird.

I guess I thought it was kinda funny. The "murse" thing was unnecessary in my opinion. They could have left that out and not sacrificed anything in the way of humor.

However it is propagating a lot of male stereotypes. That somehow those men aren't being men correctly.

As a male nurse, I really can't say that I am offended or anything by that. My only though was the it was kinda dumb, IMHO.

I'm a man who's a registered nurse, & I thought it was funny. Not funny enough to buy that garbage, though...

Weird. I don't like it just on the merit of the "Hey, let's give the American people MORE misconceptions about nursing AND men in nursing to boot!" pitch.

They had one with paramedics too, but I can't find it on the Youtubes. :bored: FWIW my husband who is a medic liked that one.

I think they're kind of funny but I don't take them too seriously. I mean, who eats Slim Jims anyway?

Not sure what male stereotypes are being propagated, specifically. They are one dimensional beings, needing to spice up their lives.

Since murse is a stupid term to start with, a stupid commercial is the only appropriate place for it. And a main theme of advertising is that you aren't doing something right, so you need to buy "this."

I found it mildly interesting
