Uncle dying

  1. My aunt called ealier today to tell me that my uncle is in his last hr-days. He is dying of metastic lung ca. He was barely dx in nov and we didnt expect it to go this fast. In fact I just saw him a week ago and he was up watching tv and we were talking about the war. Suddenly a few days ago he started vomiting blood and has been semi-conscious ever since. It is always so hard to watch someone dying. When he was in the hospital he started talking about seeing angels in the room and ever since he has seemed more at peace and not so scared and anxious anymore. This brings me peace...and sadness. I have heard similair stories from pts before but never really knew what to make of them. But I know my uncle, he is not a deeply religious man, he was always a big tough guy. He would not make something like this up. If he says he sees angles I believe him. I was wondering if any of you have had a personal expience with NDE. I just want to believe that he wont really cease to exist...that he will be just to far to touch...in a better place. Thanks for your replies.

my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
My mother 10 years ago was some what healthy, the she had a stroke..A brain stem infarction.. The doctors said she would not live more than 72 hours. Because of the severity. but she lived 7 weeks. All during that time we talked to her about the wonderful memories we all had. Hearing is the last to go. I remember so vivid as if it was yesterday. At 6pm I told her i was going to go home and would be back at 6:15.. I also told her if she wanted to go it was fine with me. i got back at 6:14 and she had died at 6;12pm.. i beleive she wanted just to know i was fine with her passing..
So I encourage you and youe family to talk to your uncle about all the good memories you have. then when you are all ready, tell him you are fine with his passing. I have seen it many times in my career, when a family lets go then the patient is at peace..

I am unsure on what NDE is? I am only a student.

I am a CNA and when I did clinicals in a nursing home I had a nurse ask me and a classmate to get this woman ready for bed. We was getting her ready and she started telling us that her life was not like ours. That she could not go out with her friends and be home with her kids and husband anymore, but she was about to be home. She told us that the lord could come and get her anyday when he was ready. I told my instructor and she said
"oh no, I am happy I am on vacation next week." Well the next week she was dead.

My instrutor then told us that she had seen that so many times. She said that one of the things people do before death is hallucinate. She said that she strongly beleaves that they don't hallucinate. She said doctors say that when people say they see angels and their mom and dad and uncle and aunts that the doctors say they don't see those things but they are hallucinating. My instructor said she has seen it to many times and she believes it. She told us that one time when she was a CNA (she is now a DON and this was like 30 years ago) that she was in a room changing a pt and that the woman said in three days she would be dead. She said she was like ok. She said later she went into the room and that the woman was talking to a chair and she said who are you talking to and the woman said the devil. She said he is there in that chair and he is here to get me in three days. Well three days later the woman was dead.

ONe more story. Another woman (my instructor said this was 16 or so years ago and this was the only time she saw this) A woman was on her death bed at the nursing home and the woman said she was an atheist and that she did not beleave in God. Well when the woman died she started screaming that her feet her burning and she was in hell. Talk about getting chills. She said when this happened she started to wonder why was she in that field. She said that she had seen so many people say that they see angels and their family before they die.

I would say that it is a good thing that he sees angels. I know what your going through. I lost a family member not to long ago. Before my family member died she said that she was at peace and that she had never felt that way before.

One more thing. My great grandmother died last year. My grantmother and great aunts and uncle had been told by hospice to go on and get the funeral arangements done. My greatgrandmother had been in a coma for a few days and her eyes was set and other signs. Well my grandmother and her brother and sister had been at my great grandmothers house for days on end and that was the first time they had left. I was there with my cousin so that someone was there while they was gone with the funeral home. We was sitting there looking at pictures of my great grandmother when she was young saying how pretty she was and so on. While we was looking at her pictures and they was gone she died. It was meant to be that way.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I had an uncle pass in May from cancer in his throat. He was hanging on to see his sisters and when he did he passed. In September, his sister died suddenly in her sleep. My mom is the only one that is left of 5 children. This hurts us a gret deal since the deaths were so close together and my aunt's was totally unexpected.

I get sad everytime I think of my future without the family that I grew up with. They never got to see me walk down the aisle or see my children. I have lots of pictures, memories and stories of them all. That keeps me going as well as thinking that they are in a better place, not suffering and with other family members.

My uncle could not speak. But toward the end his eyes were focused on something/someone in his hospital room. He would look at the same spot until we entered the room. When we would slip out and peek in, he would go back to staring at the stop. I can't be positive but I believe it was our passed family members letting him know that it was ok to let go.

The day after I got home, my mum remembered who I was, and we talked for the last time. Suddenly she sat up in bed and looked down the ward to the door. "It's me dad!" she said. I turned and looked at the door, it was closed, no one I could see had come in. I know her dad had come for her, she was unconscious by the next day, and my dad and I were with her when she died a day later.

If your uncle says he has seen angels in his room, believe him. My thoughts are with you and your family, may he go peacefully.
