that song that bashes nurses

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Did you all notice there is a pop song (god forbid I actually remember the name of it or who sings it) that came out a month or two ago. And part of the chorus goes like this

Can't stay on your life support, there's a shortage in the switch

Can't stay on your morphine cuz it's making me itch

I tried to call the nurse again, but she's being a little bytch.

Jus wondering what you all think? Up till now I think we had been spared trashing by the music genre, but i guess things have changed...lol

I'm not saying they shouldn't have freedom to write what they want and it does have a catchy little tune and phrase.. but c'mon... would it kill someone somewhere to just say something nice about us???

My 16 yo son adores Pink!!When he first heard that song he couldn't wait to test it out on me to gauge my reaction.

When it got to the part about the Nurse he turned it up & asked me why if she knew me that I have never introduced them!!:)

I actually like the song!

Personally I'm more offended by the way I see nurses/nursing portrayed in other media (movies tv etc) than anything I've heard musically

but hey we could all band together and write nasty letters to Pink and probably make her come out with a real anti nurse song

or even better we could form our own band and sing about whiny little rock stars :p

hapeewendy, have you hit the nail on the head or what??? Chicago Hope had one nurse who did Neuro one day and OB the next. She also slept around. That was just on the one episode I saw! I refused to watch it again. I haven't seen that new show MD's yet but when I saw the coming attractions for it I had to laugh. I don't know very many docs like that but I know many nurses who regularly go to bat for patients when their docs won't. Even on the TLC medical shows, many times the nurses they show are personally connected to a doctor or resident. It is time for a show that depicts what we really do in the various setting in which we work. Then maybe the public will start to "get it". Wonder if they would watch if we weren't dressed like sluts?

I don't think the song bashes nurses at all. She didn't say all nurses were b!tches, she said hers was.

Get over it. Its just a freaking song.

If you're so upset by the plight of nurses, go be politically active or something.

Oh hon..... I've missed you.

Ditto....... i like the song.......everyone.......even nurses...... can be a litte b**ch

I love the song. Pink is local to me so I guess I MAY be predetermined to like her, but............., I just LOVED "Get This Party Started" and I bought the CD. I hate to say it but I've worked with some nurses that exactly fit the lyric. Maybe we need to relax a little? ;) This reminds me of the uproar over "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" and if it really "drove" kids to use LSD. It really is just a song. Now TV/Movie images of nurses in another story.....

Thank you, hon... I was thinking the same thing....

It's called ANALOGY, folks... :)

Just call me Nurse "Babe In Total Control, Honey" :roll

Peace:)

I am suprised it actually took someone this long to post about that song :)hehe They are words in a song, they aren't little arrows pointing to every nurse our there.... But I work with some nurses who would fit in the B**** catergory, but I am pretty sure that all of us have been the B**** catergory a time or two ourselves...

... you gave me my first laugh of the day. Glad you are here again.

Did anyone noticed I have finally figured out how to guote and use smileys? That was a first time for me.I know it sounds like a small thing... but for me and my computer skills it's a significant milestone.

Actually, this song had it's own thread awhile ago. Also took up a subsyantial chunk of one of our "favorite song" threads I believe.

Congrats Mattigan! It took me awhile to learn all the cool things you can do here!

She didn't say "all the nurses are b***hes. And think about it if the song is about someone trying to get their next fix, they are so out of it in a frenzy, that EVERYONE right then seems like b***hes getting in their way.
