Since everyone seems to think that nurses are somehow superhuman, if you could have one job related super power what would it be?

I would have the ability to control bowel movements. I would bring BM to the BM-less and be able to stop diarrhea with the wave of my wand!!! LOL!!!!

Oh, to have that sixth sense to be able to tell the exact day, hour, minute, and second that my patient will deliver.

you can find your superpower should here. they're general superpowers but hey mine is manipulating electricity. sounds kinda exciting:

you're highly reactive, energetic, and super charged.

if the occasion calls for it, you can go from 0 to 60 in a split second.

but you don't harness your energy unless you truly need to.

and because of this, people are often surprised by what you are capable of.

why you would be a good superhero: you have the stamina to fight enemies for days

your biggest problem as a superhero: as with your normal life, people would continue to underestimate you.

I would like to have Volume control powers. So I can mute the mean and whiney patients and the "groaners" and snore-ers. And so I could raise the volume on people who whisper/mumble everything.

I would LOVE the power to enable my pts to remember everything that they called me into the room for. You know, when you're going out the door, they're hollering back at you "Oh yeah, I remembered something else" or as you're halfway down the hallway their call light is going off.

but since we are talking about nursing. i would like to be equipped with a nasty family repellent . it would shine like a aura and every family member that trys to tell me how to do my job or act like their mother is the only patient that was in the nursing home would get shocked and run away.

Besides having Danissa's power to prove the feeling of "something just doesn't feel right" to the docs...

I would have the ability to make the docs understand that it is ok to treat to prevent problems, instead of waiting until there already is a problem and then treating it

Like danissa said - to be able to convince the MDs/NNPs when I've got a babe (or a mom) that just doesn't look right but I can't put my finger on it!

Does anyone watch the show Heroes? I would want Matt's power. He can read minds and place thoughts in people's minds. When the patient who is on the call light constantly wanting pain meds rings, I could read his mind. If he really isn't having pain and is simply wanting to "get high" I could put the thought into his head that he really shouldn't be abusing narcotics this way and he really doesn't want narcotics, instead he wants a nice cup of hot cocoa. This would also work for the patient who is really in pain but reluctant to take pain meds because they fear becoming addicted. I could make them realize that if they are really in pain and are only taking the narcs for pain then they're not likely to become addicted and pain meds may actually help them get better sooner by allowing them to be comfortable enough to be up ambulating or to sit up in the chair for a while.

I promise only to use my power only for good. Making my favorite hospital administrator walk around the hospital flapping her "wings" and clucking like a chicken isn't evil, is it?
