SO MUCH SWEAT!

So... I just graduated in December of '13. I have been battling hyperhydrosis pretty much all of my life. I am having a very hard time keeping the sweating down. I have noticed that the amount of work is not consistent with the amount of sweat. I'm stumped. I've tried a few things which I'm sure would be TMI. And even bringing a change of clothes has not helped enough to be worth the trouble! Currently, I have managed to find a deodorant that works well. This does not help with the sweating everywhere else. My back, backside and feet sweat so bad that it distracts me a great deal. I was hoping someone would have a suggestion or two. My armpits are not the issue... And my feet don't bother me as much as the visible sweat on my back and backside!! Suggestions are greatly appreciated!

We can't give you medical advice. I would suggest talking to your PCP about treatment options.

Are you sweating from being hot?

I don't think she is asking for medical advice, I think she is asking for non medicinal ideas.

My feet sweat a lot, nothing like what you are going thought I use aerosol Secret deodorant on my feet when I get ready. Works on my feet, wonder if it could work on other parts of the body.

I like to wear a ribbed cotton tank top (aka "wifebeater") as an undershirt. It absorbs the back sweat and keeps it off my scrub top. If you don't already, keep your hair pulled up high, in a bun. Give your neck as much air as possible.

I hate being sweaty. 90% of the patient rooms I go into I have to wear one of those blue plastic isolation gowns and sweat usually just pours from my neck and face since they are the only parts exposed. And forget about changing your gloves with sweaty hands!

I don;t think so either nut....we post a gentle reminder for everyone.

My decidedly non-medical advice is to always wear an under-shirt so your scrubs don't have sweat stains on your back/shoulders by the end of the shift.

Spray or apply the deodorant to your back and chest. ..if you are using the type I am thinking of you can apply before you go to bed. ..the put a very fine powder such as ballsa powder to those areas. .yes the powder is made for guys. The name tells you that. But anyone can use it

I have the same issue.

I have a cooling towel call a Frog Togs towel which helps. You can cut a strip of it to wear around your neck and tuck it under your scrubs. It does help me. Also, a dusting power that is just corn starch and zinc oxide helps. Caldesene makes a good one- it's in a blue bottle.

I have to wear an iso gown a plastic face shield, and I sweat a ton. I always have to tilt my head so that sweat dripping from under my hair falls on my iso gown sleeve, and not on my pts. Ugh.

When I miss IVs my body temperature spikes. I like to believe it's because I'm really Human Torch and am just waiting to realize my powers.
