Hello... Was wondering about follow Floridians preparing for the hurricane.

I am in OCala, which is north central florida.. Went to the store tonight and boy..... NO BREAD, NO WATER, NO CANNED FOOD, NO BATTERIES in nearly any stores in our area... finally found what I wanted after several stops... No gas in most stations. Hurricane is expected to hit Florida saturday. It will be even harder to get gas tomorrow as the storm gets closer. Our busiest streets have businesses all boarded up, and the schools are closed for tomorrow.

I have several home care patients to see tomorrow, and hope I can get more gas after I end my day. It seems so strange that the day is so hot and beautiful, yet there is a viscious monster out there that will devastate many lives and homes in a short time.

Courious how the preparation is taking place in your part of the state.....

This storm looks like it needs to be taken seriously. Around here, many people went through the preparation for Charley and it never even caused a rain drop in our area, therefore people seem to think that since Charley was not a threat, that Francis will not be either...

Francis seems furocious!! God Bless all who are preparing for this one....

i live in Alabama but I just wanted to let ya know that my prayers are with you and everyone else in FL this weekend. I hope everyone prepares and stays safe. Good Luck.

Brace yourselves!

Hey all, I am up here in Tallahassee, Fl. We are all keeping a very close eye on things and the interstates are packed with people trying to get out of the state. I was told when I came into work tonight that we might be required to come into work at 7am Sunday morning in case the storm hits us hard and we cant travel to come in. I think the feeling here is that we will get a lot of wind but may be spared the brunt of the destruction. Good luck to all of you south of me, and may God bless.

Yep, right here in South Florida just south of Vero - GULP....Had much the same experience with the stores - no peanut butter, canned goods, bread, milk, etc. Now we are just hunkered down waiting....

LOUISIANA HERE: we have been in your position, waitging for the sword to fall...including trying to deal with those who will not leave quickly enought,,right where we are 200 miles inland we are safer than those closer to the coast...but we get some people coming in...we open schools etc for those who need shelter...different churches and red cross bring out food and h2o,,,toys for the kids...hurricaines have been know to cross the pennisula and come into the gulf...andrew is that early 90s...latest word is that frances has lessened in intensity so may not be as big a threat as was thought yesterday...stay stong our prayers are with you God bless
