I'm a new nurse who has just graduated with my BSN and I'm moving to OK soon and I was doing a little research and I found out OK nurses get paid 18.50/ hr please tell me this a joke. I'm from florida where they start GNs at atleast 22/hr!!!! Please OK nurses shine some light!

OK is a low wage state, it's also a low cost of living state.

Our standard of living in OK was higher at $20 an hour than it was making $28 an hour in WA.

I worked in a LTC facility and as a new grad was making 22.50...that was in 2007

My relative told me that an LPN could make a whopping $11/hr in another low wage state. I think In 'N Out Burger beats that or comes near in the west!

lol I got paid more working as a teller at a bank ..... that is insane!

the cna's at my hospital get $19.00 an hour. the new grad RN's start at $26.00 an hour. $18.50 an hour is pretty sad even for a low wage state for a RN. i bet burger king employees get paid more...

Trust me Burger King employees in Oklahoma sure as hell do not get paid $18.50 an hour.

New grad nurses (if they can find a job!) get around $30-35/hour in California - however, if you live in San Francisco expect to pay close to $2000/month for a one bedroom in a safe neighborhood! (We are rent-controlled so vacancies are hard to come by). We are also highly taxed here...everything is $$ - a loaf of bread at the supermarket costs almost five bucks, and a ticket for parking on street cleaning days is $70!! So it's all relative...

Sadly, that salary sounds correct. Also, don't forget that Oklahoma is an "at will state". That is why we will never have a union for patient ratios and salaries.

California is at at will state and we have the best nursing ratios in the country and unions.
