OK is a low wage state, it's also a low cost of living state.
Our standard of living in OK was higher at $20 an hour than it was making $28 an hour in WA.

My relative told me that an LPN could make a whopping $11/hr in another low wage state. I think In 'N Out Burger beats that or comes near in the west!

the cna's at my hospital get $19.00 an hour. the new grad RN's start at $26.00 an hour. $18.50 an hour is pretty sad even for a low wage state for a RN. i bet burger king employees get paid more...

Trust me Burger King employees in Oklahoma sure as hell do not get paid $18.50 an hour.

New grad nurses (if they can find a job!) get around $30-35/hour in California - however, if you live in San Francisco expect to pay close to $2000/month for a one bedroom in a safe neighborhood! (We are rent-controlled so vacancies are hard to come by). We are also highly taxed here...everything is $$ - a loaf of bread at the supermarket costs almost five bucks, and a ticket for parking on street cleaning days is $70!! So it's all relative...

Sadly, that salary sounds correct. Also, don't forget that Oklahoma is an "at will state". That is why we will never have a union for patient ratios and salaries.
Sad...
