New Grad, Help! Take a low pay job offer? Or continue with Interviews?

Graduated in May, passed Nclex in July and have been applying for jobs since with little response.

Fast forward 2 months. I now have a job offer to work for telemetry unit as a Staff RN (Not a new graduate residency). I interviewed and was offered the position the following afternoon. The pay is very low compared to other hospitals ($29), but is full-time and in a unit that I'm passionate about however will require me to relocate about 3.5 hours away from my current location.

I am not sure if it is worth it to move into a different area when the pay is so low. I googled this hospital and people do say, it's the lowest paying hospital.

This job offer was offered to me 5 days ago, and I have expressed my interest in the position and is reviewing the new-hire agreement. But, I have two interviews, the following two days. These interviews are pre-limnary interviews to see if I qualify for a second interview (hence, may be a long process).

I don't want take this Job Offer, knowing that it's low pay, and possibly not worth to move out there, and it's not a new grad program (which I am hoping for). I've had little to no response, and suddenly I have this offer, AND two other interviews. This job offer is not contracted. But I'm not the type that will take a job, and leave.

I have to respond to the 1st offer very soon (considering it's been 7 days including this past weekend). My following two interviews are new grad residency programs, yet highly competitive, and may take a longer process to interview and get hired, but it would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I don't want to turn down the first physical offer and never receive the second offer I'm hoping to get. But i don't have the heart to accept the first offer and leave the job in a few weeks if I get offered the other job.

Anyone else ever have this problem? Any advice? Please HELP!! thank you!!

$29 for a new grad with no experience is great pay in my opinion. In 2008 I started at $23/HR in a step down telemetry unit as well. Take it and get some experience under your belt!

The OP is probably expecting an offer of at least $50/hourly since her location is San Francisco per her profile.

I'd take the $29/hourly job because it is a sure thing. You cannot take any chances in one of the most glutted new grad employment markets in the entire country. You cannot guarantee that any of your upcoming interviews will result in a job offer.

Take what's been offered. If anything better is offered in the future, you'll have another choice to make. However, do not reject your current job offer because you're hoping for something else that might not materialize.

Make temporary living arrangements by renting a room or finding an extended stay hotel and work at this job until you are certain about the other two situations. Once they are out of the picture, or you decide on an offer from one of them, make a permanent decision and act accordingly. You can't pass up a job offer when it occurs in today's employment market. Good luck.

When you say, "move out there", where is "there"?

Thank you for all your input!!

I think you should research about living arrangement first before taking offer, I know the job market is tough but you take to make reasonable choices. San Francisco is very expensive , even if you are renting a room , it can run $1000 plus.

I would be happy with that due to just getting a job offer for less than 20 dollars. Your lucky. This is less than I ever seen with my own two eyes. (Hospital)

Does OP mean move 3 hrs FROM San Francisco? Where $29/hr will go farther than $50hr in SF?
