Is There An AllDoctors.com?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I was discussing with a friend that is a physician about the wonderful world of allnurses; the resources, camradarie and support we give each other here. He asked if there was such a site for physicians as well. I'm askin'...is there?

I would think that it would be a nice thing for them. Thanks!

I love studentdoctor.net -- yes, they have a more conservative attittude, but that just comes with the profession.

And regarding the comment about them having threads that basically bash threads.. yes they do, but allnurses have many threads that basically bash doctors. It goes both ways.

I recommend the website to anyone who is interested in a field of medicine -- they are very helpful and it has hundreds of thousands of members.

Well, one thing we must keep in mind is that we would be entering into their domain, and they are venting the same way we are. At that moment, we are being flies on the wall, so, of course the average nurse would be offended. They may be close minded, I don't know. But, I think that they have the right to vent the same way as we have posted about idiot interns, attendings and surgeons as well, that would clearly not be favorable if they peeked in here. I am not advocating for their comments, I am acknowledging that this area is their world.

I can agree with that. I will tell my physician friend about that area, and I will also take a peek in there. I may actually learn something. Also, I happen to be an empathetic person. What I try to do when I consult with a doctor is have all of my information ready, and based on his response, have supporting reasons why I disagree with him. If the ball goes down, I may have to say I am not going to administer something because it is not safe. FOr me, knowing their perspective is very helpful; whether I agree with it or not.

You are right. I wasn't angry when I read those things, just a little shocked. I also noticed some of the guys had some pretty nasty things to say about female med students/docs

I am not judgemental; you had a right to be a bit peeved. I think that because you were reading where their minds were really coming from, it was a shock to you. It would be for most of us. We all have an image of people of the medical profession, doctors being on top of the bill. It does shock us to see that they can be just as grimy as the rest of the world.:uhoh3:

Just a note, I joined it myself. I'll get to be the fly on the wall to see how they are thinking, and when I see the occasional comment of how idiotic they think nurses are, I WILL chime in.

I know there's studentdoctor dot net... but I don't recommend going there.

Why not? I've argued with them so much that sometimes they go berserk and attack me and the mods close the thread down, he, he.

Almost choked when i read that. Conservative??? More like sexist and elitist. And to say that their attitude comes from that profession is just as bad as "nurses eat their young" being said about the nursing profession!!

Their moderation was a little on the biased side a couple of months ago

I liked this post...though I'm not sure about this "conservative" attitude you describe. I don't hate the website- I actually like going to the site myself. Even though there are some closed minded people (and I know not everyone), there is a lot of useful information and I do go to the site sometimes- I actually joined about a year ago when I was contemplating continuing on to pursue medicine.

Some of their posts are sexist for sure. Me and my friends used to take tango lessons w/ some single docs, and a few of them creeped me out the way they treated me, totally sexist and domineering. And this is coming from a very traditional, Christian, conservative, very feminine girl.

I know there are lots of wonderful docs but a few are really feeling themselves.

Probably the 'God' complex they have; some think that they breathed into dirt like God breathed and created Adam...:uhoh3:
