Introducing Tweety & Trauma Nursing

Nurses General Nursing

Published

happy nurses week 2006!

welcome to our new forum “community spotlight” where allnurses will introduce you to an active member of our bulletin board community and discuss their area of nursing.

we are kicking off this feature with a shining star member:tweety.

he was chosen for this honor since 2004 he “kicked up a notch” the break room “good morning” threads while working night shift aka “night shift guy”. they continue today and are a daily source of fun, stress relief and advice. now on day shift, tweety suites his personae better.

many newbie’s are grateful to him as preceptor at work while our new bulletin board members will usually find a greeting and great advice. with total posts over 22,766, he can be found dispensing sage advice somewhere on the board!

hope you enjoy this new feature.

interview:

current practice setting:

trauma med surg nursing in a level ii not-for-profit hospital

bio/nursing background:

15 years of med-surg nursing to include a bit of oncology, telemetry, neuro and trauma. adn graduate, currently working on an rn to bsn hopefully to graduate april 2007

most memorable nursing event:

my first med error in my 2nd year of nursing, realizing that i'm even though i'm a nurse, i'm still a human being

answer the question. nursing is

….an art and a science. we strive under stressful conditions to bring persons to the maximum level of awareness, using the good old nursing process, science, common sense, a wing and a prayer.

favorite allnurses forum: general nursing, the break room and current events

allnurses members whose advice you follow:

so many people have so much good advice, but i tend to stalk smilingblueyes, llg, fergus, caroleladybelle, jnette, cheerfuldoer, siri, don to name just a few

member’s signature or avatar that tickles your funny bone:

dianah's: life may not be the party we expected but while we're here we might as well dance.

if i was a tree, i’d be a _________ because: rubber tree - flexible and strong

advice for bb members: it's only a message board. be respectful, don't sweat the small stuff, ignore the trolls, remember we come here to vent and it's skewed to the negative side of nursing, nurses do not eat their young, nurses are not catty, bsn does not necessarily mean better nurse than adn.

classic threads:

if you'd have told me 20 years ago...

quick question: when to put a patient on neutropenic precautions?

shopping while hypoglycemic after gym

hi! i'm tweety your critical care med surg nurse (or long waits for icu beds)

speaking of breaks

i might be going to jail soon

good friday morning 5/28/04

So I'm way late on finding this section. I think Tweety definitly deserves to be honored. His replies are almost always full of great advice and shows his intelligence. A patient should consider themselves lucky to have him for a nurse.
