If you could have one nursing superpower, what would it be?

I had a rough day at work today. There was a patient that started to go bad on me and I ended up calling a rapid response on her and sending her to ICU at another hospital. I found myself wishing I could literally predict the future, particularly my patients' futures, so I can stop things like this from happening.

Here's my totally off-the-wall discussion topic: If you could have one super power, one that you could only use while you're at work, which would it be and why? Just curious. Thanks!

I work night shift. I'd like to be able to wiggle my nose and make everyone just fall asleep :-)

To be able to magically eliminate the need to start calling staff for a call out, there would be staff member who would just magically appear when needed!

One time, JUST ONE TIME! I would love to be able to predict the future 24 hours in advance. Then I could win the lottery and leave all this behind.

Yea, it was a rough weekend...

I would like the ability to sleep standing up with my eyes opened of course.

I want to be able to change into fresh feet midshift.

I'd be able to see through walls, so when I'm stuck in a room for a long time, I can make sure my other pt isn't about to self-extubate or anything silly like that.

Oh man, I don't know if I want special vision (I don't know if x-ray counts) to see veins to do an IV (and maybe see whatever else is wrong), or telekinesis so I don't have to pull pts up physically.

Specializes in ICU.

Ooo, can I change mine to telekinesis?? If I never have to turn/reposition a 400-lb pt again it can't be too soon.

Clairvoyance...the ability to see what REALLY happened to the patient... ;)

I would like to touch someone and put them to sleep or make them forget what they were venting about as a patient, or perhaps a doctor... ;) it would have to be with superhuman strength, of course. :)

X-Ray vision seems good for IVs among other things...wouldn't mind that either...

I want empathic powers so I can know what my patient is really feeling so I can address core issues

My super power would be the ability to make my patients poop(and without the mess and smell). Because pooping is a big deal

I want to always have the right words handy that someone needs to hear to feel better
