My school never issued nursing caps to us, only pins. Whenever I see old pictures of nurses wearing their caps I have this urge to want to find one for myself, if of course it looked decent.

Think about it...most nurses haven't worn them since the 70's, but it stands strong as a symbol of what we do and who we are.

I would definitely wear one, but I'm the least likely to start a trend. :chair:

No nurse's cap for this stylish nurse. No way. No how.

No, No, No and I mean No.

Thing must be gettin' dull in Long Island,.......

This is what I say to almost everyone who has something rude to say to me...

"Its okay if you are angry. I have a big heart and bigger shoulders. Go ahead and get mad. Cry if you want. I AM A FRIEND!"

:kiss

If they go back to hats can I wear my skull cap that I use while riding my Harley? I have one that is an American Flag motiff with eagle heads on it and the other is black with skull and crossedbones with barb wire motiff. Very stylish when I am wearing my streling silver skull earring.......

I wore my LPN cap in the 70's,never wore my RN cap to work. I had to work too hard to keep it on,it was always falling off and so hard to keep clean.Got my RN in 85 and soon went to work in Psych and we wore street clothing,it was felt too stressful for pt to see us in white! Now wear scrubs, have not even worn a white dress uniform since the early 80's! Wow,I am old!

Had to wear a cap in nursing school and first few years I worked..hated it...we fought it in school..even cultured it...finally that's what convinced them..grew all kinds of bacteria....also the male nurses did not have to wear them???? Got knocked off my head several times. What about the Docs where's their hats and uniforms? Saw balding spots develop in nurses who had worn them for years....NO...No...No thanks.

I remember one of the nurses I worked with (Charge Nurse)wore hers with a wig. One night when she bent over to look at a Foley her wig with her cap on it fell off. She promptly scooped it back up and put it back on BACKWARDS. She wore it all night that way and we didn't tell. HA HA AHA. She never wore her cap again and quit fussing at the rest of us for not wearing ours

Absolutely not! I don't like any kind of hats.

No, had one in school, hated it! Neither my hair, nor my head is made for nursingcaps.

Still have my cape though and I love it!!

Take care, Renee
