HIPAA
One P. Two As.
Repeat it with me.
That is all, thank you.
(and if it helps you to know what it stands for, it's Health Care Portability and Accountability Act). See? One P, two As.

Ha! The irony of my misspeak is funny, so I'll let it stand.Again, I blame the wine.
Again, I blame the wine.
I can get behind that. Cheers!

I like HIPPA. It is so much more descriptive of this big overweight scary law with one tooth.

Do you know how many job postings I saw with it spelled "HIPPA" while I did my job search!?!? The hospitals don't even know how to spell it!!!

It is truly astonishing how many nurses waaaayyy the heck up in the hierarchy (like Deans) call it HIPPA. I don't get it.
I always want to correct them, but when I was just a wee child my mother repeatedly said it was rude to correct people with a doctorate. Oh well.

Just thought I would bump this, because we've had some egregious HIPPA/HIPAA violations on this board the past few days (by "violations" I'm referring to the spelling, not the act itself).

I always think of a hippo every time I see HIPAA or HIPPA.
I gave up on trying to correct people--I just run with the hippo thoughts.

Sure, 'tis but a wee issue in the grand scheme, but despite my efforts to convince myself of that, I have doubts about people who make the mistake repeatedly and yet hold a position that requires explaining the law to others. If it happens once it may be a typo. Or a HIPPO, if you will. (the unique hippa-typo:p) No mercy for repeat offenders.
