Hello ya'll! I'm at work right now and could use some help. I have a pt who has not had a "good" BM in about a week. I remember reading on here someone's recipe for something to help with that. If I recall it has prune juice and sprite and soemthing else in it. Does anybody know what it is? 'Cause I think it would be really helpful to my pt. thanks!

In New Zealand here we use stewed prunes with kiwifruit pureed in it. Also a product called kiwicrush which the pt.s drink. It usually works very well. We have it in the fridge on the ward all the time. Great stuff.

Scuse my ignorance, but what is MOM? Don't know that abbreviation.

Dr Pepper at room temperature. It is actually carbonated prune juice. I've used this one for years. A Dr suggested this. Also, for the opposite, diarhhea, drink liquid jello. The jello solidify's in the intestines, its always worked for my family.

Good tips, thanks dudes. I tried to do a search on this, but I was at work and didn't have time to comb through all the results - but get this, my manager was looking at this with me! I was sure I would get busted for using the computer, but when she saw I was using it for a pt, she was very interested, lol! Tried the warm 7-up (we only have sierra mist...six of one, right?) and prune juice combo, but it didn't work. Maybe it wasn't warm enough? Anyway I gave her some MOM and she was waiting for results when I left...

That is an urban legend. Dr. Pepper has never been made of, or contained prune juice. Here is the snopes page link to read about it if you wish.
