  1. I feel I have more knowledge and experience and am able to take on more responsibility. So my role is changing as I am able to cope with new situations. I feel I can still ask my colleaugues for advice if it is needed.
  2. Just finishing 12 months since graduating, I have been fostered by wonderful preceptors and colleagues. The patient /nurse ratio has been carefully monitored. And it is with pride that I sign RN by my name. I feel valued where I work.
  3. A new grad starts on $4o,ooo base salary.
  4. I really feel for you. I am a new graduate in New Zealand and have never had more than 5 patients at a time. I don't know how you managed to last the entire day. I would have quit there and then I think. Also we have a period working as a supernumary nurse about 3 weeks on first placement then 2 weeks on the 2nd placement. This is vital for a safe orientation.
  5. you make me laugh - I liked that comment
  6. Scuse my ignorance, but what is MOM? Don't know that abbreviation.
  7. In New Zealand here we use stewed prunes with kiwifruit pureed in it. Also a product called kiwicrush which the pt.s drink. It usually works very well. We have it in the fridge on the ward all the time. Great stuff.
  8. Yes, In New Zealand many nurses are wearing soft clog type shoes called, nothings, or frogs. Some are wearing cloggins. No more aching legs at night. I find them great and also you can dump them in a bucket of water and disenfect them. Oh yes they don't get smelly.
