Help, 4yo grandson killed my finches

Help, 4yo grandson killed my finches

He tore their heads off. When I asked him why, he told me, with a flat affect, that he didn't do it. I told him their blood and feathers were on his hands and he looked me straight in the eye and said" they didn't like me so I tore their heads off." I am beside myself with grief and fear for the child. I called his mother, my daughter, and she got him an appointment to see a shrink tomorrow. I am in shock, I just keep seeing their little bodies and his little hands covered in blood and feathers. He has not walked this earth long enough to be evil. His parents just divorced and his other grandmother keeps telling him my daughter is going to leave him and never come back. I am so scared for him and of him, he has a little brother. I feel bad for even thinking this , but I don't think he should be left alone with the baby now. What do I do, I love him. I love both of them. What do I do?

Knock some sense into Other Grandma's head, for starters! That's probably why he's acting out, he's lost his parents' relationship with each other and now he thinks his mommy doesn't love him anymore.

You can't talk sense into a woman who has none. If you could it would have happened years ago. I am more concerned with my grandchild than her. I even wonder if one of his Uncles or his cousin could be doing things to him. This was an act of rage, done coldly, with NO remorse. None at all, not even an "I'm sorry Nana".

Also :killing and beheading 5, yes f-i-v-e, Finches goes way beyond acting out. This is the crap serial killers did when they were little.

I am so sorry that your family is going through this. (((Hugs))) You are right to be concerned and I am glad that his mother is taking him to be seen. If you think he may be being abused and his parents are going through a divorce, this incident needs to be recorded, so that this little boy can get the help he needs.

I'm so sorry to hear this and have no good advice. I just wanted to offer my support to you and your family.

You are certainly right to be alarmed and the boy should be protected from not-so-well-intentioned family members and thoroughly evaluated.

I wish you well!

You're so right. This little boy needs help. I'm glad his mother agrees and is taking him for an evaluation tomorrow.

I'm so sorry for your birds. :icon_hug: Good luck.

Torturing small animals as a child is sometimes characteristic of a person with antisocial persontality disorder, although a person cannot be diagnosed with this disorder until early adulthood. I'm not going to suggest that your grandson is going to grow up to be a serial killer, but this is ONE of the warning signs. These signs are known as the "MacDonald Triad."

I am so sorry that this has happened. I will be closing this for discussion with the other moderators. This is asking for medical advice and while I totally agree there is something terribly wrong, this is not what we can handle here.
