How many people out there use RN in their user name and haven't taken boards yet. Just wondering

I have been a member for a long time more then likely before this change I have never heard of this until now. If you look on the Nclex forum you will see a lot of people that haven't taken boards have this in there name. I just had something said to me and I took negitively.

" I just had something negatively said to me..."

LPN's and RN's are increasingly frustrated with people in public arena and on bulletin boards trying to pass themselves off as nurses when they don't hold a license or credentials CRNA, BSN. CCRN, NP, etc.

Recent Gallop pole shows public trusts nurses more than other professions....we work hard to keep the public's trust.

Over the past year as more signups occurred, it was brought to our attention large # people especially students signing up as RN and CRNA so we redesigned our sign up page mid 2005.

:imbar Since your member date is Jan 2004, this was not a bold statement....and we realized many persons didn't follow this guideline. Additionally, allnurses.com is searchable via google, yahoo etc and we wanted nursing info members shared to be truly coming from licensed professionals.

Anyone can request a name change via message in site feedback section. Please feel free to inform us of any student listing RN as user name and we will contact them: RN2be , RN96 is acceptable.

I am sorry for correcting you, but spelling is my pet peeve because it is so easy to spell correctly.

As far as posting with credentials in your username I agree with the other posters, it is misleading. And until you have earned the title it should not be used. that is my 2cents :0

Bad spellers of the world: UNTIE!

that is the funniest quote I have ever read. wish I knew who to credit it to.

You know I just took finals and will graduate December 16th from an RN program. I thought this site was wonderful everthing thing has always been positive now since I am graduating it has turned to negitive towards me I don't think that is right. Thanks for everthing I don't think I will be posting anymore.

Well let me apologize I just intended it to be constructive criticism. Because spelling says a lot of a person, it is so important, and can really make a person look bad. It just takes a moment to look a word up. I am sorry that you took it so negatively. But if this is all that makes you feel bad. I am here to tell you that you will have a lot of hurt feelings when you start nursing because Doctors are like dogs they smell fear and go for the throat, not all doctors are that way but it only takes one to make you feel like dirt, besides all of the other interactions you will have. A lot of nurses are women, that is a lot of hormones, mood changes.

Again I apologize, didn't mean to hurt your feelings it is a pet peeve sorry :)

I stand corrected, as you may have seen I had a lot of spelling errors, so maybe I have some hormones that I mentioned go alittle crazy. :imbar :imbar

if you give in to others negativity then they WIN! You simply need to do the name change if it is required at this time, continue posting, ignore the bad spelling remark because that poster can't spell very well EITHER, and realize that there will always be negative people out there.

well let me apoligize I just intended it to be constructive critism. Because spelling says alot of a person,it is so important, and can really make a person look bad. It didn't hurt my feeling. I just don't think I should have to change my user name. I may not be the best speller in the world but thats not everything.

Hey, I understood what you were asking for and that's all that matters. Sometimes I'm in such a hurry to post that I spell horribly!

Besides, how may of us have read a post that made no sense at all because there was no capitalization, puntuation, and way too many spelling errors to count? Imagine them taking care of you. Now that's scary:chuckle

spelling (for some of us) is not easy.

And, you have a few spelling errors in the above post.

To the OP: I just see having a board name with credentials that I didn't earn as unethical. Kinda like saying I'm an MD or CRNA when I'm not. The internet is largely an anonymous place. However, as professionals, we must always be guided by ethics. To claim a title not earned is unethical.
