Hello I am taking a pole

How many people out there use RN in their user name and haven't taken boards yet. Just wondering

Well, I was pinned yesterday with a pin that says "RN" on it.

Am I allowed to wear it or I should return it to school and point out that there is a legal issue involved?

I don't understand the point of that question.

Obviously, or I hope that you know better than to wear it and present yourself as an RN until you have your license.

My school pin does not say RN. It says the school name and the pin guard says BSN. Nothing about RN on there.

Agree with the first comment... but didn't see the negativity... saw it as constructive. And it even has been clarified as such.

Not with the second. We all should try to spell well... no matter if we make mistakes at times.

one should be conscious of attempting to spell correctly, but one mistake shouldn't be pointed out by another poster when they have created several similar mistakes in their own post. And it certainly needs to be ignored when OP is considering not posting on the board anymore for this and other various reasons. Just my oppinion.:p

Point of my question was that probably school should know better giving away such pins. It seems pathetical to me to have it on during pinning ceremony and hide it in the drawer after that since it's illegal to represent yourself as RN when you are not.

There was a thread this summer in the CRNA section about folks who were using "CRNA" or "SRNA" in various fashions in their username. If I remember correctly it a few folks changed their username to reflect that they where in CRNA school (SRNA's), applying to CRNA school or still RN students.

Using the titles are probably not the best, but from the tone of a person's post and how they use the initials, you can distinguish the students on allnurses from the rest 'o the heap. (j/k)

Now if I decide to go down to the local Piggly Wiggly and offer medical advice or try to give nursing assistance, they should throw my butt in the klink. :p

Well, when I was a student, my name was RNon51305 or something to that effect, though technically that was just my date of graduation, not date of RN status.

my name is HappyNurse2005 now, and I am a nurse, though not always happy. And heck soon enough, it won't be 2005. LOL.

Seriously, I think for some soon to be nurses, its the excitement of being able to write "nurse" or "RN" or something like that. Makes it seem real, you know?

Not me. August 1974 a two day 5 test sessions and I've been an RN ever since. Using the title without the ownership of said title is FRAUD.
