Health Insurance rates...

At my new job are crazy high! Although I am not working at the actual hospital, I am at one of their physician's offices, it's the same cost for all employees in the whole system.

For an HSA, 3k ded, family coverage, is listed at $105 per 2 wk pay period. Not bad right? But if you have a spouse that works then you have to pay an extra $160 per pay period for them. Which all adds up to around $500/mo for a stinking HSA. And they don't pay anything towards your 3k ded. I won't even look at the HMO plans , it's in the $700/mo range.

Is this normal? I can't afford to go the hospital I work for lol. I won't complain about being on my husband's HSA now, it's not the best a 5k ded for our whole fam per year, but at least it's affordable and his employer contributes some money in our HSA. It's just kind of mind boggling to me, if for some reason my husband's insurance increased to those premiums we would not be able to afford it, especially with two kids in daycare.

Sorry I know this is off topic but I was shocked! And now a little worried that one day all rates will be like this and we will be left with no choice other than having no insurance.

No nothing is free. I was going to point this out, but didn't want to go there if I was the only one to notice.

You weren't...I didn't want to go there either for the sake of the thread...

Previously, for a family of 4 we were paying $165 e/o week which included dental and vision. It was an excellent POS plan. My husband works for a large corporation and they footed a majority of the cost. Fast forward to 2013, the biweekly premium doubled and the quality of coverage went down drastically. With the tax hike and the new premiums my husbands bring home pay comes out to be $6K less a year. That's a lot of money to lose considering we are also paying for my own tuition AND daycare now.

Thankfully hubs is in the Air Guard Reserve and we were able to get onto Tricare Standard, saving a chunk of change.

I'm single, no kids and pay $7/month - yes 7 - for an HMO plan. No deductible, $20 copay for all office visits (incl specialists, urgent care), no lifetime max, no deductible or copay for hospital stays, full maternity coverage. To add an adult it goes up to 150, then add a child it's 250/mo.

I am thankful for this coverage and thankful for our union that made it possible.

My major medical, including vision and dental, is $130 per month, single. After seeing what rates other people pay, I am thrilled with mine! We are paid lower hourly rates here in my southern state, than most of you, however. My hospital is known for it's lower pay, but the benefits easily outweigh this. As for preventative services, such as colonoscopies, if they find anything wrong, then it is no longer preventative, and it will not be free. For instance, if you get a "preventative" colonoscopy, and they find just one tiny polyp and remove it, then it is no longer considered preventative.

Free health insurance. Pays for almost everything as long as I use one of the listed providers. I had oodles of stuff done last year through an oncologist and have paid very little out of pocket.

We pay about $400 per month for family thru my hubby's insurance. He works for on of the biggest health care organizations in our area. We don't pay for vision as it is covered under medical and what they paid for contacts and glasses was pretty little, we just get our scripts and go to Walmart lol. We pay $15 per doc visit unless it is preventive care, $50 per ER visit and our scripts come from the in hospital outpatient pharmacy and most are pretty cheap. All our services are covered 100% when we go to health campuses of his hospital. We are pretty lucky!

I work in home health. My agency offers 3 health plans. I signed up for the second-cheapest plan, which is $20 per month more than the "federally mandated" (their words) plan. I pay $700/month for medical insurance for myself and my husband, and $100/month for dental. With an urgent-care visit, 2 ER visits, a hospital stay, and inpatient surgery so far this year, we've almost his our deductible. It all would have cost a lot more without insurance. I'm having a lot of dental work this year, including some badly-needed surgery, and I've almost hit the plan max.

I only pay $102 per month for medical, $12 per month for vision and $15 per month for dental and feel extremely blessed.

BTW, annual wellness exams, mammograms, colonoscopies, etc...have always been free with no deductible under most insurance providers. These services are not something new that Obama put into place. I have been getting free wellness exams every year since well before Obama was put into office.

Bolded part: This is not true at all.

False that anyone will have "free" healthcare if employed, under Obama's plan. You will have an automatic deduction taken as payment for your plan, I believe, as you will be required to have and pay for insurance.
