Medical humor is something that is acquired. What I find hilarious at work is not so funny to my hubby when I tell him the story. Like the time a lady let out gas that lasted I swear for a whole 60 seconds while my co-worker was anchoring a foley catheter, wasn't funny to my hubby. I however was rolling.
It helps to have a hubby in a similar service position. Mine is a law enforcement officer, and the things we laugh at would never make it past the censors. Since we're both around death, seriously horrible situations and people at their worst on a daily basis, our inside jokes would make a veteran streetwalker blush...

I know, what the heck is with the pic? It has nothing to do with the statement. I think humor is necessary to survive life, and nursing and healthcare professionals have a line of work that makes life extra tough!

Other possible message that could have been on the pic:

"Fold your arms and smirk in disapproval at the lost man dressed as an Oreo"
I don't know, that chick's glasses are kinda funny....

Patient humor is very different than the dark warped blacker than the soul stone humor you have with your colleagues though.

I used to work in ICU and When my husband was finally called in for his Liver transplant my good friend that worked in ER found a really rotten old onion in the fridge and brought it to my hubby with a note that said " Here's something to go with your really old liver." We howled it was so funny to us but the nurse he had didn't think so and told us so. We found her more inappropriate than we were.

I have a way of finding those special people who love sarcasm and humor just like mine and away I go! These fabulous people could be family members, patients, co-workers, ancillary staff, or physicians/surgeons
