Gravity Training?

Published

I was watching a cartoon with a cousin of mine and one of the characters was training in gravity like 20g's. I know that if any human was placed in that envoirment, they would more than likely perish since the weight of the their body would smoother them. But it raises an interesting thought for me.

Supposing someone did invent a gravity chamber and you could adjust the gravity say to 1.2 or 1.5g's. Would excercising in that envoirment prove more detrimental than beneficial? I am guessing that if someone worked out regularly in that sort of envoirment, would maintain good health such as good weight, good bp, etc....

Also, I would think that after returning to normal gravity, the extra strength gained, would quickly vanish since the person would not be using the muscles as much. Just like how astronauts much work out harder in space to preven muscle loss.

Please share all your comments on this topic, I am very interested in it, and wish to learn more about it.

Thanks.

nrw350...are you sure you are of no relation to Peeps MacArthur and Mario Ragucci? :rotfl: :rotfl: :chair: ;)

The only problem is that the 2g produced would not be sustained long enough to work out in.

Nick, what other methods of exercise and weight loss have you tried that you are so seriously pondering the idea of altering the force of nature on your body in order to lose weight?

I bet in the time you've spent researching this topic, you could have gone for some awesome power walks. Completely safe and non experimental. :)

Increase our stress/pressure/ WEIGHT on this earth?

Good Lord!

No thanks!

I have not spent any time researching this other than the time i have spent on this thread. Although the gravity training would be the lazy-person's method for training since you would then be forced to work harder.

One thing to consider is the added stress put on one's joints from the "added weight". This type of training could partially be mimicked by using ankle, wrist, arm, and back weights. They actually make lead ball bearing weights (small ball bearings for comfort) that you strap to like your arms or ankles and just go about your daily routine. After awhile your muscles will strengthen and tone to adapt to the added weights. Once you remove the weights you will have stronger limbs.

PS: I have considered these ankle weights to where under my blue jeans.

That doesn't bear thinking about! Round your ankles, I hope!! LOL

Nick........darling............it's a nice evening. Go. Go outside, have a nice, relaxing adult beverage, think fuzzy warm thoughts.......
