  1. That sent shivers up and down my spine reading that! Very sad, I could not have handled it.
  2. Sounds like careing for a post-op patient is a lot of work. What all are you looking for?
  3. I agree, I would think he would need all the O2 he could get.
  4. never forget to laugh... does wonders for the heart and soul.
  5. like an allergic reaction?
  6. What can happen in the first 5-15 minutes after hanging blood?
  7. These are actually good suggestions for any profession. Keep them coming.
  8. EXACTLY!!!!! We need to compose a memorandum (or what ever the appropriate word is in this case) that compiles all of these good points and publish it in a news-paper or something to try and get the word out to the public. Maybe by some miracle that will have some sort of good impact on the suits of the hospitals and change some policies to help their nurses out. I know one can dream can't they? Any ideas on how to accomplish this?
  9. AMEN janhetherington!!!!!!!!!
  10. I think that there is a very fine line between customer service and showing common decency and curteousy that should be shown to all no matter what. Yes I agree nurses should be kind and polite to patients, but not to the point that would allow the patients over-ride the doctor's orders for treatment and care. A nurse is not to sugar-coat things, or give mis-leading information either. Quote: "I don't think that customer service is that big of deal. I think that it is just common curtousy and respect. "do onto others"." -- moonshadeau Same thing that I am thinking..... it is not really customer service but just the decency towards our fellow human beings. Sorry for the ramblings..... in my head I understand my feelings, but I can not put them into adequate words. Please someone help lol.
  11. I really think that it should be the way as you describe it. Because I would think that some would stretch the current rule of no gifts so far as to include hugs in that rule. Surely there is not harm in a warm hug from a patient that truly appreciated the careing you have shown them?
  12. I would think that 24hr shifts in that area would be too dangerous due to fatigue and exhaustion? Nick
  13. I have to say that anywhere there is high stress, there is the capacity of having nightmares relating to that stress. If the stress is severe enough anything that will stir memories of the stress will cause the person to experience many of the above descriptions. Lately, my stress has been getting out of control and starting last night I have been trying very hard to control it and basically relax. Life sucks when you are so tensed up that you forget who you are and what you need to do for your own good. See the thread I started a while back about Stress relievers. I do not remember where it is, but perhaps we all can get better control over our lives. What you think? Nick
  14. Are we the only ones to have experienced this sleep paralysis? Does anyone have any other explainations? Very curious about it now. Nick
  15. Hmm, I wonder did I kille this topic lol. Nick
