  1. Thanks casper, I love reading books like that, I'll try and get a copy. Also the video by Ian McCormick entitled 'A glimpse of eternity'. Excellent testimony. He's an Australian chap who does a lot of surfing. He was once bitten 4 times in a row by a couple of box jelly fish, most lethal creature in the world. He should have died. He had a near death experience. It is the most wonderful video to watch. Think I have watched it about 5 times LOL. Worth trying to see. :)
  2. Hi Ryan, What causes the hallucinations then when this happens? And why are they always scarey experiences ? Why never any nice or funny experiences?
  3. Hi Katrina, Some people benefit from therapists and some don't. I don't have much time for them personally and prefer to work through my problems myself. I'm sure there are some who need a therapist though if they cannot deal with a problem. Therapy is really just talking about whatever bugs you or perhaps about a crisis that is going on in your life. If you have a friend who is interested in listening, then that is really all you need. To be able to keep talking it out, till you are sick of the subject and feel the need to move on with your life. I adopted a little girl and she was having counseling before she came to me. As soon as I took her over, I stopped the counseling because I didn't like the way the therapist operated. Long story short, her ideas to me, were making the problem worse. All the kid needed was a safe home where she felt loved and not rejected. That was several years ago, and she has come a long way now. This is a kid that therapists said may never come right basically. If what this therapist said to you did not make you feel good about yourself, then who needs that? It takes all types to make up this world, and I'm sure you and your ex were just not compatable. In time you'll meet someone who you click with, who likes you for yourself. But don't worry about the therapists comments. She just may not be a very good thrapist. It's like doctors, sometimes you have to change doctors to get the right one. I'm sure therapists all have their areas where they work best. Perhaps relationships is not her speciality. Forget what was said and move on. If you are really battling, try another one. But if they don't make you feel better and more positive about yourself, then they are not worth going to. And always remember, times heals! :kiss
  4. Yes my sister's child had this. He's 14 now and fine. I wonder why those that have had the problem of sleep paralysis, mainly seem to have a scarey experience and not a pleasant one?
  5. Very sad colleen. Must have been quite a shock, especially after a dream like that. I was once dreaming in the morning just before I got up, that my dad had been fired. I woke up and he walked in from nightshift about 10 minutes later and told my mom he had been suspended for giving his boss a mouthful. Weird!
  6. Hi Dixie, There are different ways of dealing with this. I think a doctor would treat from an anxiety angle and give you something to relax you or whatever. There is also the option of deliverence through the church which some people choose to have. I personally prefer this route as I am a christian and prefer to have as little medication in my body as possible for health reasons. With deliverence, it is not as bad as it sounds. They merely help you to close doors that you may have opened into your life, allowing in demons. Even this is not as horrific as it sounds once you understand what it is all about and come to accept Jesus as your saviour. The power in the name of Jesus can bring healing and deliverence without a doubt, I have experienced this. I've had it for nightmares and curses. I have had the sleep paralysis three times but with no visions of anything. I have had plenty of nightmares where demons are involved. I actually recognise them in my dream as just that. Also it is taught by a lot of churches anyway, that the ability to predict future events is of a demonic source. The power to do that doesn't come from God, so one must ask where then? Once again, can be very easily dealt with by having deliverence through the name of Jesus. The only thing is, if deliverence is done on someone who is not saved, the Bible says the demons can come back seven fold! So you would want to give it all a lot of thought, as effective and permanent deliverence entails converting to Christianity and making Jesus your corner stone in life, whereby, you believe and trust Him so much, that should you have a problem in the night, just calling out loud on His name, will immediately stop the problem and re-assure you. Deliverence can also deal with 'voices and visions', both believed to be of demonic origin. So from a Christian point of view, you are perfectly normal (not crazy), just being harrassed by demons who need to be told to push off! From a medical point of view, you are a disturbed person who possibly needs to be put on medication for anxiety or whatever. We are taught as Christians, that ALL infirmaty comes from the devil and once again, there are healings taking place in various parts of the world simply through the name of Jesus. I know of enough cases, once again, myself being one. And even if you don't go the route of the church or even to your doctor, you may find that as time goes on, these problems go away on their own, that can also happen. Try not to focus on them and think about them. 'REFUSE' the fear, no harm will come to you really. It's just a bit exhausting and not to mention scarey, to keep having your sleep disturbed by these unpleasant happenings. But I have never heard of anyone being harmed by them, only frightened.
  7. hi nurseexplorer, bit scarey with the breathing there hey? i have had it whereby i am going off to sleep and stop breathing. always wakes me up instantly and i have a gasp of air and go off to sleep with no problem. when i had the paralysis three times in one week, on the second time, i also forced myself to resist it and to try and scream. my husband came running through as he was still up and he said what is wrong. i said to him, it was happening again, what did you hear? he said, you sounded like you were choking. i said i was trying to call you! and in the same week after my three experiences, it then happened to him! he awoke in the middle of the night with paralysis and what felt like hands around his throat trying to choke him! hallucinations? strange that we had it within a few days of each other, never before and never again, thank goodness! i guess our bodies do strange things to us, and with the paralysis, it is probably best to try and just lie there quietly and not stress out (easier said than done, i know lol). i've also read that this paralysis thing happens more when people are on their backs. don't know how true that is, as satine says she has had it happen when she is on her side. oh well, it was interesting reading all this. :)
  8. Thanks all for your replies. I just love the little chair icon that cheerfuldoer used LOL). Well this problem seems common enough I guess. I left a night light on last night for this girl and she slept through with no problems, but I tell you, I was jolly nervous as night time came on. She is a bit of a stressful type of person, so wether that can add to it, who knows. Must be a horrible thing to live with on a regular basis. I've had it three times in one week and never again. That was about 10 years ago, never forgot it though. Another explanation I have had is that perhaps it is something to do with different dimensions overlapping, and that we are coming into contact with other people living in other dimensions. But this is far to complex for me to grasp. I think I will stick with the medical explanation under sleep paralysis. When we were kids, we used to play a game where you have someone stand behind you and you bend and touch your toes breathing out, then breathe in and raise your arms. You repeat this for about several times, then the person behind grabs you around your lower chest and squeezes tight whilst you still have the full breath in you. You then pass out and have the weirdest visions! Mine were always terrifying ones! I can't believe we did this. I also love this site. There is always something interesting being discussed. I am going to work in LTC with the elderly shortly, as office work is boring for me.
  9. I was wondering if any of you have ever actually witnessed sleep paralysis in a patiant while on duty? We have a young lady staying with us at the moment, and she went to bed last night and was awakened by what she said felt like the 'presence' of someone on top of her pushing her down. She couldn't move or open her eyes and the duvet was floating just above her body with a lot of movement in it, like someone was patting it all over. She said she could 'feel' a presence. She managed to shout at it to get away and she said she used Jesus' name and it stopped. She then lept out the bed and ran to my son who was still awake downstairs. She was very shocked and upset. I am wondering if it was something evil . But I have also read about sleep paralysis and hallucinating when this happens. What do you think?
