"PT" means Physical Therapist. If you cannot bring yourself to type out "patient", the correct abbreviation is "pt".

It's LOSE your license, not "loose" your license. I've seen this one so often I'm starting to type "loose" myself.

"Needless to say" means it is so obvious that you don't even need to point it out. Why do people persist on using this when it is neither obvious or even remotely likely?

Why is "NETY" even still a thing?

Oh, and can we please get some paragraphs? Reading solid walls of text is just not going to happen. Do people no longer know what the return or enter key is for?

I'd settle for any kind of punctuation from some posters. There is a poster here who writes paragraphs of text without even so much as one period.

Then there was the poster who ended every single sentence with an exclamation point. Really makes you wonder what people are being taught in schools now. Do teachers no longer correct writing? Is there now a philosophy that the only thing that matters is the meaning being conveyed?

Exclamation points are especially good after a sentence posted in all caps. Don't you just love titles of AN posts that go: HELP!!!!!????? RN OR LPN VS RT OR OT????!!!!! Or: CONFUSED!!!! SHOULD I APPLY TO PQRST OR LGRNC3 SPRING QUARTER 2018?? Sorry, can't type any more or I'll be forced to make a paragraph....

Yes, punctuation - and actually knowing how to use it. Re: your last sentence, yes, I think a lot of people these days think that as long as their meaning gets across, how well they write is immaterial. But I worked with a woman who had a master's degree (when I was in IT), and I'm not exaggerating when I say I actually couldn't even understand some of her sentences.

Oh! (Pun intended). I meant to add that re: exclamation points, and question marks, WHAT is the deal in the last few years where people don't understand either one? I've seen 'Why Pay More!' (which should be a question mark, because they're asking a question), and many, many instances of people just making a statement but ending it with a question mark as if they were asking a question.

We're supposed to be sooooooooo grateful that they used ANY punctuation at all, silly! It doesn't matter WHAT type of punctuation they used, just be glad they threw something in there!

Ha ha - actually, that's kind of what I've thought before re: the way some people use punctuation. It's almost like salt and pepper - like "OK, I've written this paragraph, now let me just throw in some commas randomly!".

Well euthanize just means to end a life early, no?

No, it surely doesn't. That's why "euthanasia" isn't "murder."

noun1.Also called mercy killing. the act of putting to death painlessly or allowing to die, as by withholding extreme medical measures, a person or animal suffering from an incurable, especially a painful, disease or condition.

2.painless death.

1640-50; eu- + thánat (os) death + -ia -y3

Another one I've long hated, which I was just reminded of via the radio this morning, is 'each and every'. Redundantly redundant! Every is every!!! It's like 'cheese queso' (yes, I've heard or read that), or (one of my wonderful grandmothers said this) 'widow woman'.

The term "widow" could also refer to a man, although generally the term is "widower." I've see the term "widow" used to refer to a man in some recent literature. Although, I guess the fact that it's used in literature (which one ought to be able to assume has been spell-checked, corrected for errors in grammar and punctuation and otherwise edited) doesn't necessarily mean it's correct. Either a man or a woman is "widowed."

I've only ever seen widow to mean a woman, and widower for a man; never interchanged.

That would be...."when it is neither obvious NOR even remotely likely..."

Lol, sorry, had to do it. 😉

Awright y'all - I think you'll enjoy the little correction I made on this before I faxed it back to the pharmacy. :banhappy: And by the way, even though the notice I got from them only had a few sentences, I noticed at least THREE errors, not just this one. You'd think they'd have someone who can write English at the pharmacy.

Please HELP, moderator(s) - I resized the image much smaller, but it posted much larger than it appeared to me, and I cannot delete it out of this post.
