everyone is afraid

I am traveling with my husband and today stepped into the bathroom at a truck stop and happened to see someone had left their purse there.

I looked through it a little to see if there was any ID. I could not find any, but I didn't look much.

I figured I would pee and then take the purse to security. As I started to sit on the commode there came a loud banging on the door and an older woman screaming "give me my purse".

I opened the door and assured her that I was taking it to security as soon as I was done.

She seemed very angry and I had to strip to have her search me to see if I had stolen anything. When done, and she had seen I did not take anything she hugged me and thanked me for "saving" her purse.

Now I am thinking I probably wouldn't even be safe carrying the purse around with me looking for security bacause if she had seen me she would have told everyone I was stealing it, not trying to return it.

The world is just crazy and sick anymore. Next time I think I will back out of the stall, pretend I never saw anything and just leave.

Thanks for making me laugh. Yeah, I stripped for her, but she was an old lady, so I don't feel too violated.

It just scares me to think of how much trouble I could have gotten into just for trying to do the right thing.

I still can't believe you did that :omy:, was she threatening you? She must have been a scary old lady :chair:. I'm glad she didn't assault you!

What kind of trouble could you have gotten into? Really think about that. Store security does not have the right to search you or hold you. The police would not have done a thing to you.

This happened at a large truck stop. My intention was to take the purse and try to find a security person to give it to. As it turns out that wasn't needed.

I started to think what would happen to me if I was found carrying her purse around the stop looking for security. If she saw me she would have yelled that I stole her purse. And how could I prove I didn't.

I'm glad I didn't have to go there. Fortunately she found me in the stall and all is well now.

She has her purse and all it's contents and I have a stupid, embarrassed grin on my face.

You don't have to prove you didn't do something. That's not the way the law works. You can't get in trouble for merely having a lost item in your possession.

There is no way I would have stripped  old woman or not. That is just ridiculous. Why on earth did you remove your clothing for her? Were you threatened or afraid?

Little old lady, threatening or not, you should not have removed any CLOTHING for her! My gosh. Who knew who could have been outside the door when she made her request? You had NO obligation to prove anything to her. All you did was validate her crazy notion that you tried to steal it in the first place.

I never would have disrobed for her to search me. I been into judo all my adult life. Acting like that, I would have had to restrain or put her down on the floor. When she approached me like that. Judo has helped me quite a bit at times.

LMAO.............THATS FUNNY!!!! YOU ARE EXCEPTIONALLY NICE..:yeah::up::lol2:

I know in some places it easy to get a permit to carry a weapon. If you would have been some ladies I know in the stall and someone barged in that person potentially could have been shot. This especially so in a truck stop, Lord knows what kind of urchins are creeping around them, old lady or not.

:thnkg:i am blown away with the fact that you stripped for her, or anyone. i would have told her to get security so that together, we all can see what is in her purse. i can say it was nice of you to be considerate for her feelings, but would she had been the same if you asked that of her? anyway, if you weren't uncomfortable, then, hey, my saying is "if you like it, i love it". glad the outcome was satisfactory to you.
