On your nights off do you ever dream you are working. On several occasions I dream I am filling med cups, pouring liquids over and over, then I wake up and feel like I worked all night for no pay. Some times Ill dream I am giving a pt a wrong med and as they put it up to their mouth it goes in slow motion as I wave my arms and yell nooooooo. OK, am I alone here, or does anyone else work in their sleep? or have nightmares about work?

years ago, when i was newly married to my ex-husband, i woke in the middle of the night to find him crouched over me grunting and trying to jam his finger up my nose. it seems he was trying to place an ng.

Yep, it's been a career long thing with me! Altho I only worked med-surg the first two years at the hospital, my dream was always that I was working day shift on med-surg, it's an hour before my shift ends, and I realize that I haven't seen ANY of my patients yet!! Or that I have patients on different floors of the hospital, and keep having to run up and down stairs to take care of them!

I'm always so glad when I wake up and realize I was only dreaming!!

I hear call lights and IV pumps in my sleep all the time.

My dreams are about malfunctioning ventilators. And I can't figure out why they won't work and RT won't answer their pages.

I think I have dreams about them is because a certain vent will reset to nothing if it has lost power 3 times, think thunderstorms. When that happens we have to bag until RT can get there and recalibrate the vent and put the settings back in. This actully happened when we had 5 vents and 3 nurses. I was never so terrified in my life. I just knew someone was going to die because no one was bagging them. We had a smart monitor tech that simply called ER and said We have 5 vents and 3 nurses and all the vents had just turned off and the calvary showed up in seconds.

Even though I don't work any more I still have nightmares about vents.

I still wake up in a cold sweat after a LTC nightmare. One dream was actually kind of cute though, all my little old folks turned into babies, cute sweet smelling in pink and blue gowns, all tucked into little rocking cradles, precious as could be, when the DON walks in and screams "Where are all our residents?!!Where did these babies come from?!!!":zzzzz

I'm constantly dreaming about work, too many different dreams to remember really. My most frequent dream is that I'm a patient in a hospital, and I'm try to insert a foley in myself. Then I usually wake up because I have to pee:)
