Nurses General Nursing

Published

I'm a fairly new nurse and I have been employed as a MST nurse for about 6 months now. Lately, i have been feeling dreadful coming to work which i did not feel for the first few months that i was hired and started to work. TLDR i feel stressed and burnt out. What are some of the ways that you veterans out there cope with this feeling? Any tips/suggestions? Im planning to take a week break in a few months but in the meantime....

Thank you because I do not know either.

I worked for 6 years in really different units and I feel exactly the same, do not worry. I am still looking for my place.

I have been a nurse for around 20 years. However, I have not always worked bedside and also not always full time.

There are many opportunities for nurses and sometimes a change in scenery is necessary.

I had to a search and came up with Therapeutic Massage Therapist. Is that correct, OP?

TLDR= Too Long Didn't Read.:bag:

Med-surg Tele

I have been a nurse for 3 years. My very first exposure was in Psychiatric Emergency Room. It was dreadful specially when highly agitated/combative/ assaultive patients are being brought in but I outgrew the feeling. A year later, I moved to a different hospital as a Med/Surg nurse and was assigned to one of the busiest wards. Often I would feel tired and overwhelmed during my first few months but like my first time working as a nurse, I eventually outgrew it. Soon I was re-assigned to the Emergency Department where it always feels like a war zone everyday. I still feel burnt out and overwhelmed at times, but I am turning to my new found friends in the area for help and some ranting. It usually makes me feel good right after.

sorry. MST= med surg/telemetry and TLDR=Too Long, Don't Read

sorry for the abbreviations guys. MST= Med/Surgical-Tele Nurse. and TLDR pretty much means Too Long, Don't Read

I don't think there's many people who are thrilled to get up and go to work...I mean really. I think most of us would rather win $1,000,000 and have fun traveling the world! But I know I have to work. So I might as well put the feelings aside that make me dread getting up at 5:15, crank that car up and swipe that badge with a happy face. Makes for a lot better day.
