Nursing in crisis
In Spain, present and future is awful. Now I´m in the UK and the future is as bad as in Spain, the brexit thing is doing the rest. So, don´t know who is working in other countries.

Good book to work in CCU
Hi everyone. Probably I´ll start to work in a CCU in a few months, and I appreciate if anyone could suggest me a good book focused in CCU. Thanks!

Which tape to use?
Anyone that paste... When it´s necessary to stick to skin, I prefer paper tape or hypoallergenic. But it depends.

Patient/Nurse Ratio- 8:1. Would you work here as a new grad??
Good luck

Patient/Nurse Ratio- 8:1. Would you work here as a new grad??
I refer, sadly we don't have any orientation (I don't know if it understood well previously)

I really think it´s a big mistake a 12:1 ratio, I only show you our options in my country. A 8:1 ratio it´s nice, it depends on the workload, obviously. A 5:1 ratio would be perfect in a med/surg ward. Working as a nurse in the USA it´s different that in Spain, so I don´t know how to help you, but only one day of orientation... just crazy!! (here, we don´t have it... so...). It´s also true that experience is achieve with work, so if you want it, go for it and good luck! Sorry about my english, I know it isn´t perfect.

In Spain is usual to have 12 patients per 1 nurse in med/surg ward. 8:1 ratio it´s a dream hahaha

Why are nurses so.....?
Nice generalization. So... why are you in this forum? Yeah, it´s weird.

Just wondering- Why are people so RUDE to nurses?!
Because some patients and families are fools. They always know everything and all what you do is wrong. What a coincidence they never contradict the physician... Be patient.

Do you feel burnt out?
Thank you because I do not know either. I worked for 6 years in really different units and I feel exactly the same, do not worry. I am still looking for my place.

How often do you work without a TECH?
I´m from Spain and I know the work is different but I´m surprise to read things like this. I mean, here nurse in charge never work in the unit (she/he organizes the staff and stuff like that) and doesn´t exist specialties (only midwife), that is you have to do everything. I have work in a med/surg floor with 12 patients (hopefully 5-6 patients), and, for me and my colleagues it is normal (but yes, I do not think that this is good for the patients, it is a hard workload where you have to control vital signs, IV line insertions, prepare and administrate medicacion, blood samples, surgical wound care, etc... and in a 7 hours shift). And I have time to do all of this stuff, and more sometimes. It is not a complaint, I only expose our situation. Sorry about my english if it is not correct. Greetings.
