Cant keep a watch working!

For years I have tried to wear watches and they ALWAYS stop working on me.

I gave up for a long time but this past fall I bought the cheapest one I could find and started wearing it. To my suprise it told the time for about 6 months. However last week it stoped working... as all the buttons had broke off (cheap) I threw it away and got another one that is the same thing. I wore it for 2 hours and it "froze" so I took it back to the store and last night got another one. Now this watch is loosing time it is an hour behind.

I have always had this problem and it is not the watch batteries as they test them in the store and say they are fine and they don't know why the watch stoped.

My dad also has this problem.

Anyone else have this problem? What do you do about it? Is there any certain brand that you have had more success with? I use my watch all the time at work and I really need one!

Any idea why I seem to do this to watches?!?! Its weird... and annoying!

This also happens to my dad. He buys a watch and it is something in his body chemically or something and it stops the watch! This doesn't happen to me. I hadn't heard about these Citizen watches but he ended up finally finding one that the whole thing was velcro and the back of the main part is covered up. Hope you find something that works for you!

Mom mother killed all her watches for years. She finally discovered that cheap Timex brand worked for her. She was not a nurse, she is a musician/missionary with no good reason her watches should break.

I believe some people are chemically/electrically incompatible with electronics. Try working telemetry and cannot get certain patients to read well on the monitor even when they are close to the station, with fresh batteries, fresh patches and being still.

I have the same problem, and so does my dad. We never figured out a solution to it. I just use the clock in my phone.

I have the problem, too. An old nursing instructor claims we have different electromagnetic fields. Paint the the back of the watch with clear nail polish. Works for me.

I had a watch years ago that would stop working within 10-15 minutes of putting it on! Worked in the drawer, or on top of the bureau. But not on my wrist!

Try a wind-up, or other non-battery watch. Phone is harder to work with, especially if you need the second hand. And how often are you wiping down that phone?

I love watches, and have quite a collection, mostly Swatches. But they have batteries.

Good luck!!

I have the same problem. No watch stays running on me. A $10 watch from Walmart, a $200 watch from the jewelry store. Same deal, works a few days, occasionally a few weeks, but won't work on me. I can take it in, have it inspected, cleaned, battery changed, same thing happens again. Give the watch away, and BINGO! It works for the new recipient, no problems.:confused:

I just keep my cell in my pocket with the sound turned off.

I invested $400 in a good watch 16 yrs ago and it still works awesome. It's waterproof to 50m since I wanted something to withstand the water when I worked as a CNA. Unfortunately they don't make this brand anymore but the jewelry store where I bought it from replaces the battery for free for me (Q 2-3 yrs).

I was given an ugly watch that I hated at first. It does have the date and day on it which is really helpful. It is Citizen. I tried to break it so I could replace it and not make the person who gave it to me feel bad.

The Citizen is unbreakable! The crystal cracked, but that was it. I still wear it and it keeps excellent time.

So my advice is to get an ugly watch you don't like. They never break.

Funny logic, but I like:D

 Call me a cheap skate:p. Plus 16years is a long time, I want variety. But it sounds like it paid off good for you.

My grandmother (God rest her) my mother and I all have issues with this, for me, it depend on the watch I get, the cheaper the watch, the quicker it seams to wear out, I have resorted to using Fossils. I think they still use batteries, but my only downside with these, is that once its time for me to replace the battery on them, they won't work for me anymore. I have tried several times....and it kinda stinks (I have gone through three so far) The first one that I went through it kept changing the days on me, I would set the days, then it would change it back, when before I changed the battery it was able to keep the date fine, I don't remember what this issue was with my second replacement battery, but, I think it had to do with the second hand not working.

But if you can find a watch that works for you....guard it with your life (lol)

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Haha, I didn't mean to imply anything by my post. I worked as a CNA for $7? An hour at 20 years old and didn't have a pot to pee in with a 1 year old. That watch helped me build my credit and everytime I wear it reminds me how far I've come. It really is a pretty watch that works well with most outfits. It's silver and gold with a navy blue face. I tried all types of watches until this one and I haven't bought one since.
