  1. Curious to know how many days you are allowed to call out sick in a year before being written up etc.

Ours is prorated to how many hours we work. Full time,80 hrs/biweekly, gets a walk down to HR at 88 hours.

That information is decided by an employer; it varies.

Some employers have call outs specific to status; ie: full time part time and per diem; some have it for all statuses; again, depending on the employer.

I understand it varies. I was curious to see the ranges people posted. I read somewhere that nursing has one of the highest incidents for calling out among any profession (since we are so exposed) but my emp only allows 4 before you are in trouble. Was curious about others.

Most employers over 35 years have a 3 times within 6 months OR a pattern of calling every Friday night then it is subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination

Depends on if you are actually sick or not.

Reading this makes me feel lucky. You can have four occurrences per six months. Two in a row is considered one occurrence. So you could call out sixteen days. I wouldn't recommend it, though.

Employees at my place of employment are allowed to call out sick up to three times in a rolling 12-month period. If the call-outs exceed this number, the process of progressive disciplinary action is supposed to start.

We are limited to 6 unscheduled callout days regardless of how much PTO we have accrued.

We're limited to 3 occurances in a rolling year. If you call in sick Monday, feel better and go back to work Tuesday but are sick again Wednesday, that's two occurances. But if I call in sick October 15 and don't go back to work until April 15, that's one occurance. (Of course there are other issues there!)

Four occurances gets you verbal counseling, 5 written and 6 termination.

5 days a year rolling calendar. No such thing as occurrences where I work so if you're truly sick and out for a few days in a row, you better hope the rest of the year goes well!

2 occurrences is 3 months or 3 in 6 months before the disciplinary process begins. Unless you have the almighty FMLA which my employer allows staff to abuse.

I honestly have no idea. I guess I didn't pay attention because it's never been an issue for me. I only get sick once or twice a year.
