I'm sorry, but Sherri Shepard is an..... unintelligent, uneducated person. (since this thread is explicitly about how nurses ought to be above name-calling, I suppose I should refrain from doing so)
This is a woman who said, on national television, said that she doesn't know if the world is round or not. And not in any sort of deep-thinking or ironic manner. The woman really just didn't know. Google it.

They asked her what she would tell her son if he asked her if the world was round or not, and she replied that she would say "We're going to the library!" I believe that's how it went, right?
And Joy asking why a nurse is wearing a stethoscope?! Okay, my head hurts now.

She did say something along those lines at some point in the conversation. But watch the clip on YouTube. It's clear the woman legitemetly did not know whether the world was flat or round. It's terrifying and hilarious at the same time.
It would be nice to supply links when posting stuff like this so people who didn't watch the show or see the other thread on a different forum could benefit:
The incident referred to in the vague OP:

Yes, that was very clear to me at the time. Sorry, wasn't insinuating that she knew but just wanted to show her son how to research it. She seemed very puzzled about it herself!
I couldn't believe that not one of her co-hosts pursued that.

It's clear that the hosts of the view are poorly informed about what nurses do, and that they completely missed what was so great about Miss Colorado's monologue.

I've seen hundreds of comments from angry healthcare workers - both nurses and other professionals. Most have been appropriate.
But I've also read posts calling Michelle and her co-hosts "cows", ones that call her "butt ugly", and ones that even quip that her sex-reassignment surgery clearly had poor results.
Seriously? Shame on the ones that wrote those comments. They are doing NOTHING to promote nurses as professionals worthy of respect.
Please think before posting and commenting on sites like facebook and twitter (and here) with your feelings about what was said on The View. Your comments are a reflection on our profession and when posters sink to that level it only hurts the cause.
