Hi all,

I just realized my CPR card is expired and was doing a search for CPR classes in my area and a bunch of online ones popped up. They say that they are legit and accredited but it makes me nervous. Anyone else take an online course to renew your CPR card with a company that was legitimate?

Can anyone recommend a good website?

Thanks!!!

I've heard of these and they seem acceptable, I think you can even do it at the red cross site. I may need to look into it also.

If you are working in a facility, they should be able to help you with recertifying. Also contacting the Red Cross for class information.

I did "recertify" one year online, but I was not doing direct patient care at the time. I don't remember the name of the website...sorry.

Well, I just took it, and it was easy. I went to "procpr.org" and it's for healthcare providers. It's actually cheaper and alot less time needed than 3-4 hrs.

Thanks Richard!

That's the one I was considering...so it all worked out? I'm assuming that it's legit and your card printed out for you?

Thanks so much, I'll be doing mine in a bit.

Oh yeah...which one did you do? There's one that's a hands on one? Do I need that one or just the basic one? Thanks!!!

I' ve yet to print it out, but it appears to be a great site. Also, it has that BBB verified logo, so, it is a legit site.

Hello,

I printed it off and it looks pretty legit. I'm going to fax it over to my nursing agency and hopefully it's all they will need from me.

Thanks alot!!!!

The BBB means nothing in the world of BLS with hospitals.

Before any of you spend any money, make sure that it has the logo of the American Heart Assn. Others are no longer being accepted by health care institutions.

And any program that is accepted requires a check-off by an instructor in your skills, doing it 100% on the computer and how are you doing compressions so that the instructor can check you off?

Save your money if you wish to use the card for work.

There are programs that offer the "classroom" component on-line, but you still have to have a "real-life" skills check-off for it to be legit/complete.

Suggest that you check with your employer (or school) to be sure of what they require/accept before you spend any money for an on-line program!

I'd check with your ed and training at work....almost all places now require the AHA provider course.

This appears to have the AHA endorsement on the card. See link: here.

Across the top, you can see "in accordance with the guidelines of the American Heart Association".

Richard.
